Ok so we need a rural letterbox down the road at the corner with the others. I have noticed various boxs have wee personal touches like a V8 block or one at our corner stands on a 6 pot crank.
So giz ya ideas for a bike oriented letter box, best I can come up with is a tank on a set of forks with a mirror as the red flag thing they have... hit me people, then we will try and sorce the bits.

A big ol' bike petrol tank?

With an old muffler under it for the local rag?

Mounted on a set of extended forks with a wheel in them?...

and old bike helmet. paint visor black, and cut a hole for mail to be poked through. you can lift visor to retrieve.
get medium sized race numbers to put on the helmet to indicate your address.

If you want a tube for the newspaper, and old exhaust with the back cut off would look good, IE. helmet facing north, exhaust tip facing south, so the paper can be pushed in, if you get what I mean?
helmet face forward, exhaust face back. cant think how to explain better.

How on earth is a helmet sized letter box big enough out rural? Unless it's only us who always get loads of suspicious brown packages...

use the tank (actually the airbox cover and glovebox) off an old Gold Wing. Its already got a flap and stuff. Or a whole Gold Wing!

Bike seat hinge-mounted on whatever recepticle for the mail. Lift the seat to deposit/retrieve mail. Add whatever bike bits you want around that to complete the bike to whatever extent you want. You could even sit on it while you wait for the postie to bring your monthly selection of publications in 'plain brown wrappers'.

Hmmm, bike themed...

I'd just go for something simple and paint the ACC logo on it.

Should be lots of cash coming your way for no good reason.

A scoot with the front wheel half buried in the ground, and rear up in the air so you use the seat storage as the box, small parachute tied on the back to flap about in the wind a bit, faceplanted 'scarecrow' draped over the handlebars (head and arms must be durable as they'll be run over fairly often when delivering/collecting from a car window). Big packages can go in the step through bit, plenty of room for papers and mail in the dry storage, and you could still rig up a mirror as the collection flag.

...To go outside, and take a photo of the neighbours letterbox.

Looks to me like he is trying to bag himself a postie, I keep an eye on it just because one day I'm certain to see a lot of blood, a postie bike on the ground and a mortally wounded postie a few hundred meters up the road.

If you are looking for inspiration get Warwick to show you some of his new mural designs he has for the GN bucket.

Failing that you could just cover your current letterbox with dog shit everyone will think it is a Harley:sick:

A CT110 would also be kind of ironic as a mail box.

Christ, the people from OSH would have a seizure if they saw that! Hahahaha.

An old springer/girder front end could be a cool stand to prop the box up on. An old cylindrical oil tank with a slot in one end and a hinged flap on the other?

Also remember I am out in the middle of know were, a big reason of mine to do so is to raise my boys away from wee shit heads in town, I have found kids that grow up out in the sticks have a much beter attude and less destrutive manner.

Your post got me thinking the old Rob North framed Doug Hele racing Tridents and Rocket Threes. Actually had what was called a letterbox fairing.

Right you are there Dave a Real Proper tank. Like one off a HONDA:wings:
The irony that i guess was lost on you Dave, Was the old bsumph fairing was called the jackman letterbox
Also if you take a look at the frame of the old British nail you might see where the Yamaha Lowboy TZ frame came from.
I guess you know why it was called the Lowboy?
Hint it has less to do with Cal Cathurthers and a lot more to do With Rob North.
I love two strokes but the wailing howling bellow of a BSA or Triumph Three on song is unreal.
A Merlin V12 is the only thing that even comes close.

I must pop down the road and see the new place,D.

Not needing a box myself, i can't offer any novel suggestions, just one practical one...About every two years or so,out here, some bunch of young pricks will get the idea to test letter box posts with their ute's bull bar...
If I did a rural box, I'd drive in a length of old railway iron - and weld a ferking heay box on top.
Let's see them drive casually away from that....
