Radar detector wiring

I was thinking of buying a "hard wire" cable for my RD so I don't have to use a bulky cigarette lighter socket type system. The bit I'm worried about though is that the jack which connects to the RD might get wet as I will be riding in the rain on the odd occasion. What's the best way to go about this?

Mine is wired via a distribution block which lives under the seat where water don't get.
