More from Mr Opik, who announced today that he has been given assurance by the Government that farmers who allowed off-road activities on their land would not jeopardize their right to the single farm payment.

Commenting, Lembit Öpik said: “Many farmers diversify into off-road activities in an effort to remain financially viable. This works for the farmers and it works for those who enjoy off-road motor and motorcycle sports. The Government’s original plans would have punished both groups, and I’m glad they’ve changed their stance on this.”

“When they review the position at the end of the year I hope the Government bears in mind the rights of off-road enthusiasts, and the economic pressures our farmers face.”

This and the previous post show that some Govts do listen to bikers concerns. Why don't our Govt's? Too much of a 'we know best' attitude perhaps?

Tisn't actually the Government that's the problem, it's the Civil Servants (if ever there was an inappropriate name it's that - they are neither civil nor servants).

Civil Servants are, more or less by definition, 200 years old minimum, come only in standard grey, and are forever haunted by the horrifiying fear that someone, somewhere, might actually have found a way to have fun. And know for a certain fact they they know exactly how everybody ought to live, and think.

Also, UK has the MAG, which actually gets out and fights for bikers. We only have the BRONZ pussies.
