Doubt I could do that even with practice.
What really impressed me was the pilot of the airplane.

My thoughts too, a split second hesitation in forward or back & thump, sky grass sky grass. Do the controls work backward when your upside down? My only experience of planes comes with movies & meals.

same...throw in a couple of airshows and a general interest in plane and basic knowledge of controls..

I assume (read: guess) that Pitts Specials are not the most stable aircraft either due to their aerobatic nature.
Kudos to the pilot also !!
BTW is it a Pitts? Looks like one from that angle.

Do the controls work backward when your upside down?.
To certain extent, yes, your elevator trim controls (back/forward movment on the stick) gets reversed, but in most cases as you push forward to go up (while upside down) you will also need to roll it out sideways from the inverted position. If that makes any sense?
