As per title. I'm heading over to Melbourne to live with the snakes and spiders. Pretty keen to take my baby over. Does anyone know who and where would transport my bike over? Is it worth it?

the price of second hand or even runout mx bikes in australia would not warrant taking yours over

sort of depends.
are you moving over with your furniture and the rest of your houselot etc?
Most furniture relocations companies can suss it out for you, theyll just throw it in a basic wooden crate, and chuck it in the container along with your other shit.
When they are quoting they charge generally on a per cubic metre basis, not on weight, and from memory $240-$280 per cubic metre puts you in the ballpark of what they charge.

Your other option is to try and find someone else (again maybe a furniture company) that is sending a container over that has a bit of empty space in it, you might get a cheap rate if a not-full container was going over as a sole use and they can chuck it in. Thats a fairly common occurrence at the moment, we have a shortage of containers due to the Rena, plus all the containers being used in Christchurch, we are often getting 40ft containers for jobs that only need a 20, simply because we need to take what we can get.

also don't forget that if you trail ride you will need a warrant/rego bike! but if your mx then it doesn't matter <_<

Hey Craig347 wife here I work for a relocations company. Is it an off-road or road bike? If off-road no time limit on ownership, but if it is a road bike you must have owned it for 12months or more to be eligible for import. You need to get an import approval from the Department of Transport and Infrastructure regardless of road or off-road. The cost is about $1600 NZD depot to depot (we only relocate from Auckland) for crating, shipping and clearances in aus. You will have 10% gst to pay on the Australian value of the bike when it gets to Australia, plus quarantine inspection of about $220 AUD, on road costs if applicable approximately $1000 AUD, risk of possible steam clean of $450 AUD.

Hope that helps, any other questions email move@ausmove.co.nz
