What a shame the best rider in the world can't find sponsorship. He treats his sponsors fantastically and never bags the bikes that he rides. He'd be winning races if he was on a "decent" bike, he's a total hero in his own mind.
Even though Stoner's just as annoying, Stoner at least does okay (can't wait for him to retire).

I'd like to hear your thoughts on whats more impressive racing/riding skills than Stoner....that's on the basis that Stoner is only doing "okay!?!" WTF? Your a hard one to impress!

The full statement reads: “I (ANTHONY WEST) will not race in moto gp this year or any other race because I can not find sponsorship to pay the SPEED MASTER team, Because all teams are asking for money from the riders only the rich can race in motogp / moto2 / moto3, I can not even afford to ride a year for free, As i have YET to be payed from my former team MZ Germany Moto2 team. I had my car mx bike and my house for sale trying to keep the ride and even gave the house as a guarantee if I did not find the money but was not enough. I will most likely not race any more and will [return] to australia to find a normal job. Sorry to my fans.”

I'm sure his mum will be heartbroken.
Edit: That's a little cold. I should add that I actually really enjoy watching Ant West race when he's doing the biz, just the attitude that he portrays is fucken shocking.

That's something we'll never agree on! Stoner will adapt to the thous better than Lorenzo too.

Poor Whore hey is lost now he's run out of ideas for Rossi victory lap impersonations. His last little pool jump was a real belly flop.

Honda will be wanting to not fuck it up this time like they did with the move to 800's. They didn't win a Championship until the last year.

I'm willing to bet that barring injury the title belongs to Stoner.

Damn straight, and would have been alot slower learning how to peddle the Yamaha if he hadn't stolen all Rossi's setup info. No wonder Rossi had a wall put up between them. Whore Hey wants to be Rossi. His problem is,,there already is one.

Exactly! AFTER the wall went up! Rossi wasn't happy about the sharing of info, it's no secret that the wall went up when Vale realised all his testing was being fed to Jorge. Hey the guy can ride, and set up a bike. I'm simply stating that when Rossi finally twigged he was being used, Jorge was up to speed. I'm sure he would have gotten there eventually. As for the after race flag planting and big leaps off the podium, it all says try hard to me..:bleh:

I think it's pretty safe to say he's not pinching setup info now. The Yamaha will be quite a bit different with the litre engine in it.

I don't think Ant West really did enough in Moto2 for me. He has had some impressive rides especially in the wet, but somehow never seemed to fire a shot in Moto2. Maybe the bike was that bad? I don't think he's any great loss to MotoGP though, Matti Pasini is probably a better bet for a CRT team. Seems Yonny Henandaz may be losing his ride for the same reason, unable to bring in any decent $$$ himself.

The bike was pretty bad, maybe not so bad, but combine that with the team, which was very certainly substandard, and the lack of funding for new parts and all the rest of it, then he was on a hiding to nothing. Just look at the improvement in results in very short time when Willing came on board with the team. No one can win anything if they bring a pony to a thoroughbred race.
He may be a bogan, he may not be very sophisticated nor have big money supporters as a result, but West really is one of the best motorbike racers around and brings some colour to the paddock. Especially when his old man gets drunk and then gets arrested for fighting and when he brings his bogan mates and their bogana chicks to the paddock. Classic.
His personality and lifestyle has militated against him getting better rides in better teams and he rubs people up the wrong way (I know, I chatted with him and his chief mechanic (separately) when he was in 250 in 2006 and that's what he said), but if he can land a good ride in BSB and pull his head in and perform, then the same route that Hopper has taken is open to him.
Good luck to him I say.

Ant Gobert and Ant West? Hell of a coincidence if you are into conspiracy theories. Maybe they share the same dealer.

Absolutely, and I stood in the rain and watched him win at the Island on that Bimota. Both boy's are good in the rain, both boguns, both shot themselves in the foot. Both are Ozzies. Both have long hair. It's gettin spooky.

as mush as Ant West is a bastard, he does not deserve to be compared the the waist of talent that was Gobert

it was an old woman,
Seems he's not fussy!
Legal troubles: According to reports in the Courier Mail, the 33-year-old Gobert was charged with two counts of stealing after taking two $20 bills from the hand of the 70-year-old man at a Coles supermarket in Surfers Paradise on Tuesday, 13 May 2008. The following day, he allegedly snatched a woman's purse on the streets of Surfers, according to the newspaper report

AAAAARGH! If there's one thing that pisses me off more than having no talent myself, it's watching someone with huge talent waste it.
I don't mind Westy too much. He just seems like a "normal" bloke in a lotta ways, not "manufactured" at all. He mightn't be from the Rossi or Stoner talent pool but he's still got some serious skills, having lead a MotoGP race (in the rain before copping a ride through penalty), and also finished 5th in a dry MotoGP race on what was one of the worst bikes on the grid (ZXRR).

Ant West can't go the same road as Hopper. The difference is that John Hopkins was going off the rails but now he's sorted his shit out whereas Ant West is what he is, a loud mouth bogan with a crap load of talent who doesn't come across well.
