Hi!

We are travelling around the world with two motorcycles and a tent.
After nearly two years the tent zippers are done. It wont work to replace just the sleds (is that the right word?). New zippers are necessary.

Can you recommend any repair shop for outdoor equipment in New Zealand?
We are not looking for an outdoor-shop, where we could buy a new tent, but a repair shop!

Cheers

You do realise that (at least in NZ) a whole new tent will be a fraction of the price you'll be charged for replacing the zips?

I doubt that I can get a new Hilleberg 3GT for the price of two new zippers.

No doubt: two new zippers will be rather costly.

It might be worth to check out prices and qualities of the tents in New Zealand.

Canvas City in K Road, Auckland.
Won''t be cheap to replace the zips. It is a fiddly job to do it right. I have a big Singer canvas sewing machine, but don't have time these days and am out of practice.

There's a fair bit of difference between canvas and the stuff his tent's made from......

Surely Quasimoto can do this as well? It is just a zip after all?
Keep us posted Panny and if you are in the far north give a shout. [Whangarei]

Delis Tools in Chch sells them Hillberg tents....so they should have a recommended repair agent.

But if the tents on its last legs (final poles?) we Do have an awesome kiwi tent company.. http://www.macpac.co.nz/shop/en_nz/gear-and-clothing/tents

Thanks.

Nice stuff, but as expensive as a Hilleberg. Motivates me to keep our Hilleberg alive!

'Twin Needles' in Christchurch. Great work.

^^ Seconded. These guys specialise in outdoor equipment repair.

I have had a lot of my mountaineering gear modified/repaired by them, I wouldn't go anywhere else.
