Or successful people who like nice motorcycles.

I've actually been on a few of these events lately. Some of the hardest core bikers I've met have been in attendance. One I interviewed recently lived on his motorcycle for 10 years. - No fixed address - a Road King and a tent and travelled across 3 continents.

I'd say that the most common vocation of those I know personally is Armed Forces or Ex-service personell. A couple I met last month were doing their last ride before returning to Iraq. HARD case blokes.

And there are professional folks and part timers who attend too. A diverse bunch,

Just look for the white T-Sport (as per my profile page) - and a candy red 1200'S' Sporty.

I'll be the smooth sophisticated debonaire type on the T-Sport.:msn-wink:

I will be there on da Buell, gonna take the old girl (X1 Lightning)...ironically they can't refuse entrance to Buells!

I'd agree...although I'm a bit biased being a member of the Patriots Defense Force Motorcycle Club(non back patch).

Lots of current and prior service folks riding.....quite a healthy percentage on Harleys(ball park half or a bit over).....but heaps on other brands as well Triumph, Jappers, and the odd BMW.

The number of folks in uniform riding motorbikes has EXPLODED in the past 10 years.

Well I am hanging out for a weekend off. The scoot has new tyres and I havent had a chance to scrubb them in.

Been doing a lot of extra hours at the new job lately, I have never been in a place where so much equipment had basic faults that have not been resolved.

Going to head off after and come back via Invercargill, Wanaka, Hast and Arthurs pass.

I have to fit all my camera gear and a week's clothes in a back pack/carry on. Looks like I'll be in my bike gear on the plane again.

I demo-ed one of them at R&Ss open day...the road captain was also riding one and as we went round a roundabout one of her saddle bags detached itself and went bouncing down the road...

oops!

Just found out that one of my mates has to pull out of our road trip...at the last minute her boss has cancelled her leave. :mad:Needless to say, she is now actively looking for a new job.:(

We hope you guys have a safe and dry trip down.

We're running an all day Free BBQ and party with some quite big raffle prizes on Thursday at Rolling Thunder...just need to visit a Top 10 holiday Park for free raffle tickets to enter on the way down.

There's also going to be a thunder ride into Dunedin on the Friday leaving from Palmerston about 50km north.

We've been asked to start it earlier since Deep South HOG are now running a bunch of cool events/activities on the Friday afternoon...so we'll be rolling south from Palmerston from 1pm.

So thankfully no need for a meat wagon, although I heard of one off on the way to the rally and a broken pelvis.

As mentioned by Flip.

Different to your 'normal' rally but still heaps of fun (unless you're a miserable 'glass-is-half-empty' sort of git).

Have good entertainment and a band for all tastes (unless your a spotty faced oik or generally under 35 years old.)

A few people here and there that could be seen by some as posers (why would anybody need to wear fingerless gloves to eat a 'sit-down' meal??:eek5:) - but nobody there cares, after all people are people...and we all have a bit of poser built into us.

'cept me of course...

IMHO some people in this world give too much credence to what 'other might think' about them...

oh dear... if memory serves correctly i may have been involved in that LOL.

EXCELLENT rally...I rode with such a great crew and we did some memorable days in the saddle, all of us grinning from ear to ear! Our 'road captain' was Woody and we just put our trust in him to get us there (eventually). We all agreed there was no rush to get anywhere so each day we took the long/scenic route and man! it was worth it!

The rally itself was just an excuse to kick back for a coupla days and catch up with a whole lot of old friends and make some new ones!

Friday night was HUGE so Saturday night we had a plan...we would take our own wine with us (bloody $40 a bottle at the bar was just too much anyway!) and once we had drunk it we would go back to the hotel and just have a coupla quiets cos we had a big ride the next day...

Yeah well, that plan went completely pear shaped as fresh bottles kept miraculously appearing...Big Dave you were responsible for a couple of them eh? I say a couple cos I lost count... Cheers for that, enjoyed chatting with ya though I'm not sure if you were able to decipher my drunkinese towards the end of the night hahahahahahaha.

Amazingly considering we (my crew: Woody, Wozza, gentleman John, 'the redhead' aka Marcia-pink hog girl on KB I think? and moi) managed to have a sesh every night and not one hangover! TRUE! I reckon it was because we were drinking top quality plonk ...

Got back to Auckland last night and I am still grinning:yes:
The crew have already got rooms at the Novotel for next year...might got to Ellerslie via Northland...

It was only one bottle.

Yea - I've been invited back as tour guide next year too.
I'll take 'em via Chch and the West Coast - and NI East Coast.
