Just heard on the radio news at 5:00PM that there has been a fatality and a number of serious injuries at a motorcycle meet "near" Taupo.

Apparently a race had been stopped and some of the riders formed up on the grid. Others were unaware the event had been stopped and drove into the stopped bikes. One fatality and other serious injuries are reported.

Location of incident: Manfield Race Track

Incident Type: Accident

There has been an accident in the pit at the Manfield Race track where one person has died and seven others are injured. Emergency services are currently in attendance. Injured have been taken through to Palmerston North Hospital.
No further details are known at this stage.
