I live rurally with poor (text only usually) Telecom coverage.
Any ideas how I can improve coverage thru an antenna? Anyone done it?
While I'm on the job, same with FM reception in the car - I thought one of those kick arse whip aerials like Stock Agents have would do the job, but inquiries to the local Geek provided no frut at all - he may be the weak link tho.
Thanks in advance Chap/esses

I use a cell phone coverage boosting antenna.
It adds about 3 bars to the recption strength. It cost about $110.

Telecom doesn't really have anything, Vodafone has femtocell: http://www.vodafone.co.nz/services/femtocell/
I was going to suggest a repeater/booster, but having just read a thread, it might be illegal: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=39&topicid=95326

If you are a Vodafone broadband and Mobile customer you can buy a femtocell to boost the reception around your home.

Seems correct but it is possible to buy boosters. The problem is they flood the location because of the signal being sent back and forth - one of the reasons radio frequencies are controlled. I was told to check out these places:

Better antennae's are ok.
The mobile frequencies are controlled so AFAIK it's illegal to use signal repeaters. Still....as long as you keep the signal low then who's gonna know? Plenty of this sorta kit on Ebay. Best ask some radio ubergeek first though.
