I need a 2 pin power cable -> IEC Female.
Ie. the power bit of this

to the IEC 13 like this

Reason being is I want to plug a powered speaker into my amplifier. The amp has a 2 pin power input on the back, and the powered speaker doesn't have an earth pin. It is designed so that you plug it into the amp to save having to turn it on/off separately.
Where the f*&*@ do I buy one of these? Or are they illegal because it's not earthed even though some equipment needs it work properly?
I'm guessing that if I make one that my insurance won't be valid if there's ever a problem.........

I don't really know, but I'm googling out of interest.
Looks like the right sort of stuff exists:

(Though you'd need the right combination of leads and adaptors, that link I put in above has the wrong gender IEC for you, but a female-to-female IEC extension would work.)
Haven't seen the same thing at the local (N.Z.) places I know of.

Dice Smith didn't have them. The only 2 pin power plugs they have are with the 2 pin figure 8 connector.
Dude at Jaycar said "we need to be careful selling cables without earth" so I'm guessing it's an osh issue or something.
Might be pair of sidecutters time!

Yeah thats the one, except the bit that plugs into the wall only has two pins (no earth). Looks like I'll be sidecutter'ing off the earth pin.

Can't say I've seen the type of cable you want... certainly can't think of any product I've seen use one either...

If the speaker is double insulated which is indicated buy a small sqaure inside another square on the model/serial number information plate or sticker then cut and file the earth pin off a normal plug.If it doesnt have double insulated symble on it dont as it has external parts that may become live if the speaker fails.

I didn't see a sticker, but the IEC male input on the speaker doesn't have the 3rd earth pin (IEC 18 i think)...
After driving all over mianus i decided it was a futile effort and I ended up using some pliers and pulling the earth pin out of the 3 pin power socket end. Came out quite nicely, no filing or cutting needed. Do not do this unless you are sure that your equipment doesn't use earth!!!!!!! lol
Cheers all
