XT660 big tank

Got another bit of the XT puzzle...
22.5L Gilimoto tank..
Gillimoto seem to make tanks & plastics
for bikes other company's don't...

Now the XT will be good for just over 500kms

Looking good Pete, get it on so we can see the "finished" product! - now you'll be able to do the Rainbow / Molesworth loop from yours and still have enough juice to commute for a week! :niceone:

fell on apart from the XT rubber spaceing being to
narrow for the tank by 20mm...
so just machine up a couple exstention to move
the rubbers out 12mm each side...
front plastic raid guard wont fit...make a alloy one..

660R looks great what was the cost to get the tank out here.
I get 250 ks out of the standard tank on my 660 which is set up similar to yours with a 2 into one pipe & stuff but always carry a few ltrs as a back up . Have thought about a bigger tank but the OTR price put me off.

Hell sport don't go anywhere near OTR....
$700NZ straight from Gilimoto , Brazil..
I was getting 250km to the fuel light..
350km to empty.. 23/24km per letre..

Thanks for the info will look into the tank from brazil.The best I have had is fuel light at 170 is and had to top up at 270 when ran out. it has the power commander as well got set up on a Dyno and use 96 fuel. goes really well with the way it is set up

looks really good for a tank that holds that much, as sometimes they just look bolted on...nice.

Was thinking that it would be nice to have the graphics back on, but as we know with big plastic tanks...the stickers eventually peel BUT, I've heard of a treatment that you put inside the tank to seal the plastic from leaking the vapours. This sealant is being used on some of the retro MX bikes to allow the grpahics and look of old, but supplied with plastic tanks instead of steel.

I thought at first to simply replace the decals with the originals as they aren't bad, and makes the bike look complete. Easy to source as they will be factory part.

As for the tank sealant/treatment - I don't know exactly which one is preferred for plastic but Pete MacDonald at Wellington Motorcycles is the one who told me about the treatment for his RM400 replica tank.

what has put me off the standard yamaha decals is the shoud has
a hole/air vent in it... so theres a section of the decal missing...
