Rossi a bit upset after HRC posted this http://twitpic.com/8gt42a on its Twitter account. Rossi says they should look at his first 5 years against Stoner's first 5 years and not the 2006-2011 comparison.

Rossi saying they should compare his first 5 years with Stoners first 5 years rather than a straight 2006 - 2011 comparo

 HRC must be getting worried if they are playing mind games this early!
All will be decided from flag to flag on the race days! Incidentally, where the best mind games are to be had too :msn-wink:

What a pointless comparison;
Rossi won a shedload of titles prior to '06...
Stoner is 6 years younger...
Who rode what and when?
and on and on it goes...

Rossi should bring attention to how ridiculous these stats are by making one himself that shows both of their performances for 2008-2009 :first:

The comparison is hard to make for sure. They will never be riding the same bike.
I'm a Rossi fan, because he's a character with shit loads of talent. Stoner has the talent, but he's a whinger.
I think Simoncelli was primed to be the next huge earner in GP, given his talent and attitude. Alas it wasn't to be.
I really want Pedrosa to have a blinder year and get a title. Pray for an injury free year for the midget!

The "HRC" graphic is from Australian Motorcycle News. I trust they have permission to re-publish it.
It's a bit like the Tillman-SBW scuffle really. As long as it's good for sales... :msn-wink:

Pedo is a good rider, and has had the right equipment for many years...but can't pull together a championship!

most non motorcycling people can usually name three (or four depending on how old they are) motorcycle people: They are Rossi, Sheene, Evel Kneivel, and if they're old Hailwood.
So who's better for the sport: Rossi, because Joe Lunchbox (who has sky sport) does not know or give a fuck about anyone else. But if Rossi is racing, they might have a look at ten minutes of MotoGP before switching to NASCAR from Talladega, or boring so called "super" cars from buttholeville in straya.

For your sake then, I sincerely hope Pedro wins the championship, Hayden 2nd after close battles with West, Capirossi, Kenny Roberts Jnr, Gibernau and Paris Hilton. Will somebody please feed the Spyda.

Today most people know Travis Pastrana, Burt Munro and John Britten. (Is it just my generation who still idolise Ricky Carmichael?).

Stoner is the man of the moment but he has a long way to go before gaining 'Rossi' status.

Dunno if he ever will because Stoner doesn't love the limelight like Rossi - he doesn't play up to media etc

Stoner just doesn't have the personality like Rossi, I'm sure thats why he's not universally liked as Rossi was in his hayday!
Much like Schuey in F1, if you annihilate the competition and don't make a fight of it, people turn off!
Rossi was always one to stalk until the last lap then pass, making a race of what might not have been!
Stoner is a fantastic rider in the Zone, if he can knock a couple more championships together then he may well be considered with the greats ;)
As long as he can make it look interesting, then he'll get the recognition he deserves.

That's part of the job today. Those sponsors paying $Millions EXPECT their people to be media savy. Stoner will probably get the hang of it.
