Hi, I am getting a new scooter and just insured it. I was wondering if derestricting it will invalidate my insurance if I need to make a claim?

I guess it might as you've made a modification without telling them, but meh, I doubt they'd ever know unless you have a non oem cdi or something and the assessor notices.

Your insurance company needs to be updated about any change in circumstances. Be it a modification, change of driver, convictions etc.
That and dereristricting a 60cc scooter on a car license can make it illegal on the roads.
If you dont, you may as well cancel your insurance, it will be easier in the long run.

It may invalidate the warranty though. Insurance shouldn't be an issue if it passes a WOF. And it's rego'd

chances of the insurance company knowing, or ever finding out that you have derestricted it is slim to fuckall.
