You never watched all those cop show's? Gyroscopic binoculars I think... anyway, let him sweat.

Didnt think eagle could go that fast, I heard it maxed out at 225kph land speed. Probably heard wrong.

Wouldn't have a clue. I was talking to a cop at about 6 and that call came over his radio loud and clear. Eagle... well, poetic licence, but it was down in the Waikato and came back up about then... so maybe

A genuine 278kph...not an indicated 278kph...that is a pretty solid/stupid effort. Must be up there with the highest clocked illegal speeds.

Saw 271 on the clock on mine, but 12 percent speedo error fixes that.

Doesn't need to go that fast. How long do you think you could hold a constant 278 on a public road? Also, even if there was a dirty great straight line with no other traffic on it, helicopters don't need to match the speed, simply climbing will keep the offending vehicle in sight.

At 4 in the morning if on the motorway you could go for ages. But at 6 on a Friday night, maybe 5 secs before you hit traffic. :bleh:

You haven't seen the Ghost Rider movies, have you? Then again, those are filmed on superior Swedish roads.

Some of the corners on the motorway would be a struggle at 280kph for the average rider. Those with decent track experience would probably be able to hold flat out speed along a lot of them. I am with Trash, you wouldn't be able to go for *that* long. At that speed you cover ground pretty quickly. I imagine the best run would be from the top of the Bombay until you hit around Greenlane. There are a lot of on ramps and off ramps where the cops could pick you up, a simple rolling block and you would be done for.

pretty onto cops we have that would do a rolling block at that speed, more likely chase far behind until the rider fell off and then claim the chase was aborted half an hour ago

Well supposedly they have the rego, and anytime a rider/driver is clocked at excessive speed it seems to make the media - usually used as justification for a clamp down.

they'd want a bit of height so they could get a missile lock as well. I presume the Po po eagle has a TADS system? Did they get him with the cannon, or let go a hellfire?

Don't be fucking ridiculous. Everyone knows that with the current budget, our defence force can only throw an orange at the target. And even then they are over-ripe <_<
