Hey guys so i been working out some power to weight ratio's and this is what i got...

If you work out the power to weight for the limit of 150kw per ton (2240lbs) you get a power to weight ratio of 0.06 (Higher is more powerfull)

Which excludes a CBR250 88 at 0.09
My VFR400 NC30 is 0.12

Yet on the list you can have a RVF400 which is the same as mine! twice the limit ?? Whats more is i used to have a Honda Bros 650 and that was heaps quicker than my mates CBR250 and its on the list of OK bikes??

What am i missing here??

Are you thinking curb weights or dry weights? All bikes under 250cc with the exception of certain 2 stroke bikes are allowed under LAMS.

Im just going by dry weight, manufacture specs, is that correct?

They add 80 or 90 kg for the rider.

Formula here

The power output (kilowatts) is divided by the tare weight of the motorcycle + 90kg (for rider and fuel).
The result is then multiplied by 1000 (to convert to kW per tonne), i.e.

Engine power (kW)/ Tare weight (ie mass of motorcycle in kg) + 90kg (80kg rider weight + 10kg for fuel) x 1000

ahh ok that does it lol, makes sense... still seems a bit strange some of the bikes are to quick for a learner IMO, i guess thats up to the rider...

Bike Specs quote 230kg dry,,,, so 67.3Kw / 330 X1000 = 203.9
I think yamaha quote 239kg dry.

But nah, with the torque available? I wouldn't want to see it as a learner bike.
