Not sure where it would be, the area it was held last time has been developed/beautified since then, although could possibly still work around what is there...

Yeah I hear they don't have any forms public transport at all up that way... well apart from the multitude of busses and the odd ferry... but other than those... ;)

Yes the bus every hour past the end of our road is good (dairy flat) if you want to wast an hour getting to to city.
Problem it's a Sunday when you get i think only 2 buses a day.
then at $8 each way = $32 for two. It's just cheaper to park int downtown car park at $8 all day Sunday.

Well, I'm just taking Lurch (the R80) and parking right beside wherever they hold the scramble, it was an awesome event last time and huge laugh for the spectators.
Well worth attending!

It's good to see my rates at work.
Was never bothered about public transport as this far up it's always been shit so always drove/rode and found where all the cheap/free car parks are.
Hope is as good as last time but i think a few are saying "not doing that again" but it always looks easy till you do it, not that I'm good enough to even think to do it.

Unfortunately the 110 died an honorable death after I braked a bit too late during a nocturnal urban enduro hot lap. It never was the same after ending up in the mangroves. Shame as I was on a real good time.

Thre's even a vid on the Herald. It's"bitty", and you don't get a feel for the course, but lots of people falling off... Still: publicity in such a public forum can't be bad.

A real ripper of an event! Think everyone today must have seen a few ooh and ahh moments.
Heard a few noting was easier than last one. I wouldn't have described the course as looking any 'easier' than last time - instead maybe a little 'less HARD' and no worse for that Lol. Even the best riders were having few special moments. Plenty challenging and even made me want to give it a try (couch unfortunately seems to be stuck to my back when TV is on).
- Couple of bikes went into the tide (I saw second guy coming back up the bank sans bike looking very annoyed!)
- One of the trials guys pulled a bold/scary pass on the apex of the big ramp. Thought the trials guys were impressively aggressive and rode hard all day.
- Chris B pulling a wheelie off a tyre obstacle, getting crossed up and wincing when thinking of that ankle on the landing. Can't have felt good.
- Actually feeling the CLUNK through your feet when guys cased those rocks! At least one unfortunate dude holed a case with oil splurge and nasty jammed gear(?) - poor bugger unable to it kick over.
Thanks Redbull, CB, Waitemata and everyone else who helped put on such an amazing event. Obviously a hell of a lot of work (and money) involved. Good on you!
Guys like Jarvis/Birchmeister amazing to watch, so smooth and clean - even looked composed when getting it out of shape (that can't be right?). All were good though, Powers boys, Nield boys. Truly an event were anyone could feel justifiably proud to take part in even if he/she came last.
Some pics (sorry for poor quality): A smooth Graham Jarvis 'on the rocks', Chris Birch doin nice work on the tryes, someone battling rocks and example of spectators very up close and personal to racing.

I really like what you said there Boris. Couldn't agree more. I used to prefer another brand but switched after I went to last Redbull city scramble. They spend up large on all sorts of exciting, unconventional, non ball-related sport and I like that. (apol for my thread pollution with double post)

No they were right in amongst it, was interesting watching the bikes together too. Short, soft suspension has it uses but they really battled hard. Many showing a wheel to the best on enduro bikes. (Ok now I triple posted, still feeling pumped about the day)

The good trials guys put on the best show, especially the young guy over the first lot of rubble, they showed quite a few of the "other" bikes the way home in the heats

Awesome event, well done Redbull, Chris Birch, and the WMCC, and all that where involved in this event:clap::clap: I didn't realize Graham Javis and Paul Bolton where here as well awesome stuff getting them here, good to see Sean Clarke as well he must be getting on a bit, still got the skills thou.
Got to say Javis took the Romanics From Chris, then the Roof of Africa now Redbull City Scrambles, Oh hang on that was Rory Meads title.
Anyway again, well done Chris, and hope this event happens again.
got some vid I took, will put up.

Liam's the son of Mark, from Auckland ;)
Jake Whittaker was the youngster who' dived off the buckets of water into the crowd later in the day - chasing Jarvis or Bolton (oh, hell, I'm confused and can't remember what happened when and who the heck everyone was).
Liam lost his chain in one of the rock gardens in an earlier heat, but had been riding well up to that point.
There was lots of great riding, a brilliant day, and everyone involved did a fantastic job.

The third trials rider was the only one ballsy/stupid enough to try and jump and clear the second skip bin. The first attempt he cased it hard, but after that he could consistently clear the second bin. I think Jake Whittaker may have tried it, but only once. Also noticed there were heaps of cameras around, so I look forward to the official compilation video from Red Bull. There were also camera men from throttle entertainment, who film all the extreme events around the world.

Wow what an eye opener!
I actually decided to enter this event.........
........Best time ever! So far out of my depth/skill/ league it was comical!
Nothing to lose but having fun!
Had massive off in the big rock garden lap after qualifying. Excellent bruise on calf!
Qualified 63rd so got to do the second heat.
Lining up with Birch, Neilds? And other much better riders is a bit daunting but made it around for 6 laps and came 2nd to last so was eliminated. Still really happy.
Huge thanks to Kel (k6k) for the spare tube and redbull, WMCC and all of the crowd and helpers!:niceone:
Was the most "up close" and personal race I've ever been at or done.

Did any of the trials guys make top ten? we buggered off after the eight heats (plane to catch)
Great day out, pitty I didn't factor in the daylights saving change before putting on sunblock... Jarvis and Birch were incredible to watch, the Powers cousins were riding great too. Most impressive rider was the trials rider on the 'Repsol' colour bike. He pulled off an AWESOME inside pass around the wall ride. Great show, only watched until 2pm. What were the results?

6th Mitchell Nield (NZ)
7th Chris Power (NZ)
8th Warren Laugesen (NZ)
9th Scott Bouverie (SA)
10th Karl Power (NZ)
I was impressed with the 2 trials guys . Jake Whitaker gave Jarvis a hard time for a few laps til he flew off the side of the concrete pipes. Lost time getting his bike off a track worker who was lucky not to have got hurt.
Jake Whitaker and Warren Laugesen (repsol gear) were the only riders jumping over the 2nd skip bin ,sometimes just catching the lip but still amazing to watch

pretty shit, havnt ridden in so long my fitness is just not there at the mo, didnt think obstacles were all that hard but within a couple laps i was just rooted - a completely bald tyre and no oil in front suspension prob didnt help, but thats just excuses really
got through qualifying, even after my chain flew off going up one of the log bridges though - that could have been interesting, but pretty uneventful otherwise
got me keen to ride again though, selling a car to upgrade bike
