A few rego questions

I have a new bike. The owner didn't have a rego holder on the bike (may have been removed and not replaced after crashing), how can I find out when the rego expires? I think it may have already, shortly after buying the bike.

Second question, I have an old SR250 that had it's rego on hold for 10 years, I recently put it on hold for a further 3 months to allow me to fix everything. That's going to expire soon, do I need to put it on hold for another 3 months and then I can just register it when it's got a warrant?

1st question, try carjam.co.nz, it should show you if it is registered or enquire at one of the places you would go to renew. My rego is stuck on the backguard with a bit of double sided tape, this is what they give you now days if you ask something to attach the rego to the bike. You can still buy the trailer/bike rego holders but my original one broke off the plate, tearing a slight hole and I have since observed many other bikes showing the same sings of damage and missing holders. The sticky peels off ok when it comes time to change the tag and if that's what they supply it must "meet their requirements".

2nd question. Holds come in 3 month lots, the rip off is if you get it on the road before the 3 months expires they may charge you for that 3 months. Go to the TNZA site and go to put it on hold, the conditions tell you what will happen.

My reg is double side taped onto the back of the riders seat on my bike. Those hangers look gay as fuck. And if the parking wardens aren't blind or a cunt, they will still see it.

First question, go to a vtnz and ask them to reprint the label.

second question... minimum hold period is 3 months, if you register before the 3 months is up, it goes back to the date of last hold. otherwise from date of last MR24

The rego had expired when I had a cop pull me over (he didn't say anything about it though)...time to get a new one I guess.Gingamidget probably will know the full facts, but you are only liable for the rego since the change of ownership happened, however you are assumed to know whether your rego is current, (unlike unpaid roadusers they want your blood from anyone).

Colrider is correct, if you buy a vehicle that is unregistered at the time of transfer, you are liable from that point on, and the last registered owner will receive a bill to bring it up to that point. If it is on hold, same goes, but they don't get a bill. If its on hold, the current hold period still applies.

If you ever happen to receive one of those charming give me money letter from NZTA, they are only payable directly to the agency. POst shops and vtnz aren't able to accept it. (mr1c I think is the lame arse form)
