Rider Skills training for learner, restricted and full licence holders. Event based in Timaru, but other locations may be offered if sufficient demand.

Sir Basil Arthur Park, SH8 next to Goldpine, Washdyke, Timaru
10 March, for learners and restricted licence holders
11 March, for restricted and full licence holders

The usual training fees are subsidised by ACC, so you can get back some of the money you pay on your motorcycle registration levies! A rider contribution of just $50 is required towards the event! Maximum of 20 riders per day so first in will get the spaces.

Approximate timings
from 9am: Arrival
9.30-11.30 Presentation of theory including:
• Search/Assess/Respond to hazards
• A system of rider control, cornering and positioning techniques
• The new road rules and how it affects riders

11.30-1pm Car park - larger group practical, includes:
• Slow speed manoeuvring and correct use of brakes
• Counter-steering and evasive manoeuvring

Lunch provided 1-2pm, thanks to the local RoadSafe South Canterbury members

On road training - with assessors, in groups of 3 or 4, includes:
• Positioning / acceleration sense
• Hazard perception and cornering

Police motorcyclists will be on hand for discussion, as will local dealer Timaru Yamaha with some new bikes to look over.

The schedule for on-road training groups will be sorted from those who have prepaid. There may be additional spaces on the day, but we can not guarantee this.
