I have been trolling the net all morning to find if I can get wheel bearings to make my Honda wheel swap easy.
The wheel spindle I want to use is a 12mm and is the standard Aprilia rs50 one, the Honda has 15mm bore and 35mm OD,
6202 DU is whats on the bearing,
So what I need is a bearing with 12mm x 35mm x11mm.
I can find 12x37x11 but not too keen on machining the wheel if I can help it.

Anyone out there got a better idea?

machine wheel if you can't find bearings online. Should be enough meat for 1mm either side, but you'll have to gauge. Done it before on my RG wheels for same reason

Sliding fit, wheel spacers with 12mm reemed hole?

You could just make (or get made) wheel spacers with a sleeve on them. OD 15mm and ID 12mm.
So that they just sit in the bearings and through into the spacer between the bearings. (so that everything torques up nicely)

Visual representation below. Couldn't be arsed uploading a pic. Right side into bearing. Left against fork.

Firstly, what's on line isn't all that's available...try a specialist bearing supplier, preferably a small one. In ChCh South Island Bearings can find most orphan sizes for me. One example, a gearbox bearing in an obsolete size...found in a dealers dead stock in Bundaberg...

Secondly, I've also made up stepped spacers to suit a wheel/axle mismatch, works well.

I agree with both these comments,

I have made up stepped spacers and works well,

http://www.aucklandbearings.co.nz/ they also went out of the way to find sizes i needed after days of searching on the net with no avail.
just tell tem what sizes you need and to look in all there catalouges.

i did step spacers on trailer as i have 15mm machined axel with 14mm thread and 16mm eye bearings. The internal hole in my axel doesnt match bearing sizes. Then also i needed tapered pacers as each side was different with 15.5mm hole one side and 21mm the other. At least you can remake spacers but its hard to remake the wheel if you remove a mm from the bearing hole

For replacements try these peeps http://saeco.co.nz/index.htm

They have never not been able to get me a bearing. Sometimes it has taken a week or so, but normally it is available the next day if it isn't in stock at the local branch.

I suspect that BDOTGNZA will be concerned at the double negative.

What they forgot to say was that there is a formula for calculating the price of bearings.
Take the one you are looking for, seeing as it is hard to find you count the number of balls in the race, 7 in this case
Now take the price of the closest bearing that they have on the shelf $9.00 and multiply it by the balls in the race 7 so it will be $63.00
10% discount to make it feel like you were enjoying being screwed. So that is 56.70 sir

Plus GST 15% and $5 freight (shared if 2 bearings)

$70.21 for 1 or or $135.42 for 2

yeah fuck I hate Saeco now, been buying bearings from them for 20years at least & in the last couple of years the prices have gone sonic. Just so they can give trade 45% off & big customers 65% off or some such nonsense, _ all they did was put the price up, just I'm the dumb cunt who gets charged $18 for what was an $8 bearing 6 years ago.

Bay Engineering Supplies in East Tamaki is who I have been going to recently, and have always had good service.

Which reminds me that my front wheel bearings had a bit of play in them at the 2hr, must get onto that.

They are getting me a pair from the US via Australia, going to take a couple of weeks so I may get a spacer knocked up as cover, at least then I can use a common bearing.

Its not exactly common if you have to buy a metric bearing from the US, should last 10 years though

The odd size one's I can use with no fancy spacer but if I knock up a spacer i can use standard 6202. I was just trying to do it easy with the weird ones.

I'm still stinging from the $52 I was charged for two common size wheel bearings on the way to Taumaranui.

your joking..... I'm in the wrong industry (though it never stops raining).

How can they really justify that kind of price..
(but you paid it so I guess its justifiable)..:weep:

what sizes are common?
maybe there are opportunity for bulk purchase across the bucketing group??

I was on the way out of town heading up to Taumaranui, so kind of needed them then and there.

Na, just go to another shop or get a trade account set up, it's only the price to the public that is ridiculous.

This is exactly how a KTM50sx rear wheel is done. So it is not as odd as it sounds. It is therefore a genuine factory solution done by an "industry man" no less.
Of course you can also find a bearing with the correct id and insert as sleeve in the wheel to suit as well.

if you can find a bearing the suit id and od why is the width such a problem as the spacers or sprocket cover can be modified surely?

Also why not go to a 15mm bearing they are stronger and the axle would be cheaper that new bearings assuming the ones you have now are ok?

Bearing prices have gone up competition is down. There are still suppliers at reasonable prices not always the wholesalers either, but they are a pretty exacting piece of kit really, bearings that is.
There is a formula for the bearing sizes. I do have it somewhere the bearing number do mean something after all i won't bore you all with the details but. sometime oe can be cheaper hard to believe but true.

this site has a usefulhttp://www.bearingshopuk.co.uk/popular-metric-ball-bearings-10-55mm-bore-8-c.asp search facility.

found this also i have never heard of the description though so watch out.it may not be up to much

According to the cattledog it's the dimensions you're looking for.

For the record: 2rs - two rubber seals. C3 is the radial clearance, (C3 being suitable for higher revs, lower load end of the scale).
