Well its taken me 22 years but finely I got one over Mr Soichiro Honda....... I killed it, well and fuking truley rooted it good and proper.

This thread (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=14656) tells of the days events, but the pics below show the final result of what a lock nut comming off a tapet and diving down the cam chain well, jamming between the tensener and chain causing the timing to jump will do..... either that of I just over reved it and it droped a valve at the same time as loosing a nut in the other cyl.
One valve was found inbebed in the piston the other you can see in pic 4 jammed up the port somewere.

The bucket racing Legend 'dangerous' will return stronger and faster and a hole lot broker in the near future....... :finger: you Soichiro

Poor build quality and rider abuse, you should have got a Suzuki

Thats fu*ken impressive!!! Never seen something like that before, i've seen bent valves, cracked pistons, valves in pistons, and rods thru the top of pistons but nothing as spectacular as that! thanks! :D

But saying that... my condolences are to you and your bike!

Come back stronger! ;)

If it was a 2 stroke you would just feed it a new piston. But that mess complicated with poppets, springs, cams and wallowing in half a gallon of oil - beyond hope. I spose it'l be fixed in a week or two. Good luck

Unfortunately I've seen similiar damage, on a Honda too, my fricken Honda at the time, a Honda XR350RD, you know where you lost that nut off the tappet adjuster, my XR broke the whole friggen arm off!! Just rooted it big time, even stretched the con rod apparently, ended up trading it as is, on a hotrod CB750F
Oh by the way, don't tell Kickaha but you still interested in that Yoshimura 160cc kit?

Knew I wanted to come down next month for the challenge and thought "Fuck that I'll blow my bike up". Not funny.

That is pretty impressive getting a hole right through the piston, especially on a 125T. I didn't think you could damage them by overrevving, they just float the valves and carry on, my brothers one did anyway.

I notice the head gasket has been leaking pretty good as well.

Long ago I managed to wreck one of Mr Honda's finest twins. It had been floating the valves so I put a set of MEAN valve springs in which fixed that, but then one of the Bert Kingston pistons expired! I felt it hesitate and had the clutch in before the motor stopped.

And how long did you keep the throttle pegged after the valve went? Until road speed was zero by the look of it! I remember pulling apart a truck engine like that, the inlet valve jammed up the port - we asked the driver why he kept going with a dropped valve...''oh,I thought it was just some stones hitting the mudguard''.

Chicken and egg stuff as to what went first, with a Honda it's usually the inlet valve because of a stretched camchain. The tappet nut is an interesting theory, but not likely to damage valves, unless it caught somewhere and held a valve open. The tappet adjuster will unwind for more clearance, not less.Anyway,a good effort :Punk:
