So I go to open my pillon seat, they key turns ok but I can't lift it up, it seems either the rope holding the seat to the bike is stick in the hole or the cable thats attached to something to make the lock work has come out of something.
Here's the best link i've found and I tried doing it but I fucked the lock itself and now the locking mechanism just sits there really loosly.

Does anyone have any ideas about how to fix it

I have no idea of Hyobags, but there is likely a male part with a barb that goes into a randy female part & she won't let go:crazy:. There will be a cable (but maybe some old rope, who know with the Koreans) that pulls the retainer out of the way allowing the barb male part out. If the cable becomes dislodged (as they do on Tigers) the drill is to find the cable outer & pull it more, or thump seat if you're lucky. Then cable tie the outer so it can't slip out of the cable retainer.

Is it one of those locks that ... if you turn it one way, the seat opens. Turn it the other, way the helmet holder lock opens ...

Nah it's one of those ones that only turns one way and then you lift the seat and then normally the seat will come off. :P

So I had another go tonight and I saw the cable so thought I'd latch on with a pair of pliers and just twist and twist until it started to pull the latch across and it worked!! ...but now I think I need a new cable :(
I took some photos I think an easier way would've been to push the plastic holder that holds the metal ball on the cable with a screwdriver from the side. (just good knowledge to have incase the issue arrises down the line)

I had that happen once and it was a MAJOR issue to get the seat off. I had to take all of the plastic off to get at it, which was pretty difficult as one of the bolts holding the rear cowl together is actually under the pillion seat! I seriously considered leaving that bolt out when I put everything back together.

any decent bike shop should be able to replicate that cable.
So why wasn't it moving? had the red plastic bit fell out? If so, drill a hole & cable tie it so it can't displace.

I actually dont know why it wasn't moving, it was still attached when i finally got the seat off but by then i'd buggered the cable, and for some reason now the locking mechanism wont stay in place properly

disconnect the cable & try both lock & catch independently. can tie some inner cable to the catch lever & hang it down so you can open it until its fixed.

I actually use this on one of my specials, it has a cable with a fitting on the end that is drilled & a keyring ring fitted through it so you reach under the seat bodywork & pull the ring
