One of my motorcycle Popos saw a bloke ride his cycle through a red light, not wearing a helmet.
Right, here we go. The contact starts with the officer starting to write a ticket for each offence. The standard replies start to flow, until the words "Why don't you go catch a real criminal" come out.
The officer stands back and points out to the cyclist, who happens to be wearing an electronic bail monitoring anklet, that he IS a real criminal.
I can see the humour in it. :)

I can understand if the rest of the country wants to move on from this, but that way it was for us on the big EQ day will stay with me for the rest of my life.
It's one work story you wish didn't happen. Tears for Rastuscat on hearing it come back.:sweatdrop

Hey Rastus, used to visit ChCh a lot for business and always said I would happily live there if I left Auckland. Those ladies and men in blue did a great job in that audio. They must have been very stressed, concerned for their friends and family but just got on and did their job in an extremely calm, professional manner. The lady in Comms was awesome, so calm and collected!!!
Big ups to you all.
Thanks for being there.

A little while ago I pulled into a servo to get fuel, and when I left I pulled out behind a guy on a scooter.
A rainy day, and this clown has a helmet on his head that isnt buckled on, and he's wearing a t-shirt, shorts, and jandles.
You think that's bad? He lit a durry just before he pulled out of the servo and smoked while he was wobbling around the road, going around roundabouts etc.
I was seriously tempted to pull up alongside and push him over for being such a retard.

So if the cyclist had been to a petrol station and filled a can with petrol and did a runner would he have been charged with it or is there a legal loophole preventing this being done???

Gonna collect some revenue from bikers tomorrow in Churchur. Then I'll offer them the option to do some training, and if they do it, I'll cancel the ticket.
Yeah, tax collecting I will go. Never let the facts stand in the way of a good old fashioned bleat. :tugger:

I think awareness of the necessity of refuting the 'tax collector' accusation is quite widespread amongst the constabulary now.
I got ticketed for 71 in a temporary 50 yesterday, heading north over that bridge on SH1 near Atiamuri that's been a 'temporary 50k zone' for years on account of structural issues.
The cop explained, without being asked, that the roadworks to fix it up have finally started and they've been asked to hang around the bridge and enforce that limit for a while because everyone's gotten used to ignoring it there.
Couldn't really argue with that.
(I didn't think that "I'm in a hurry to get to Auckland on time for the start of the Roger Waters concert" was likely to help my cause, so I didn't mention it. The concert was brilliant, though.)

Is the infringement notice the same price as someone who commits the same offence in a motor vehicle?
Gonna collect some revenue from bikers tomorrow in Churchur.
I was planning on taking the bike out for a ride tomorrow. I guess I'll leave it locked up in the garage instead.

Reckon the poppo should be embarrassed about tax collecting in that situation although it is not their fault. The 50 k has been there so long with seemingly no good reason, now the poppo are enforcing it making it look like they are using it as trap to collect taxes, how does Joe Average motorist know that someone has decided to finally do something about fixing it so the 50k limit is becoming relevant. Realistic higher restrictions should have been used in the meantime and then the 50k could have been introduced with the work signs and people wouldn't think the poppo were just tax collecting.
Bit of a hobby horse because I go through a 60k light sign every work day that is :bs: Tried sticking to the limit and nearly got run over. It's a frigging light sign that can be changed for when, if ever, there is work going on, otherwise it is clear highway on which you could get drivers to accept 80k but no reason not to do 100k.
Good work on the Chch EQ To the boys and girls in blue. Tough having to deal with that and worry about your own families at the same time.
Front line staff always get the shit.

Is this trial of yours going to continue for some time or will you be shut down when powers/that/be find out ?
Could this trial spread to car drivers or all drivers in general around NZ ? I would like to think there is plenty of scope to teach the general/idiot/populus of NZ how to drive, what merge like a zip means or the simple right hand rule/change, roundabouts sheeesh
Not just the speeders though aye

Actually... I was wondering. If you are ticketed through an area governed by those "variable" signs, what evidence do the authorities need to provide to show what speed was being displayed (in effect) at the time of the alleged offence?

Bracelest have conditions specific to the offender. His said he could leave home during specific hours for specific purposes. Just FYI.

depends on the sentence handed down, and the conditions.
i.e. if the offender was fully employed, they will more than likely be allowed to go directly to work and back - basically a curfew - which is fair enough, no reason for the cunt to COST us money if he can be working and lose all of his other freedom. He probably gets less pissingaround laughing with mates time at work than he would in jail.

I would like to know that too come to think of it - good question.

Just an electric tingle as he goes out the gate (and back in) would be fine ...
