As some of you will know Maha and I take a Learner and Newbie Motorcycle Group. As many of our group are on L plates we are fondly referred to as the “L’s Angels”. Sadly one of our members is battling terminal cancer at the moment. As a group we have decided to take part in the Cancer Society Relay For Life to show some support for Tony.

This is a National Event and is happening all around New Zealand. Our team are taking part in the Relay event On March 3rd at the Millenium Institute of Sport in Mairangi Bay.

I am asking for your donations.

All you need is your credit card and a few seconds of your time. Just click

http://relayforlife.org.nz/index/donation?DonationTeamID=3263&DonationEventIDRequestorUID=19640

To support our team. Chose anyone member you like we are all (bar 2) members of this forum.

Your donation will be processed by the Cancer Society of New Zealand and confirmation will be emailed to you. Funds raised are returned to the community in which they were donated (so for those of you outside of Auckland your donation will be directed to your local Cancer Society Branch) and go directly towards research, prevention and early detection and support services carried out by the Cancer Society of New Zealand.

We are selling T-shirts http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/146927-Support-the-L-s-Angels-Buy-a-T-shirt#post1130261229 - I have paid $30 for mine, it is for a worthy casue. Shirts must be ordered and paid for by Thursday night if you want one. Extra $$$ will be required to cover the postage if you are not attending the walk.

Maha has also organised http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/145216-Cancer-Society-Ride-Relay-Saturday-3-March-2012 that will bring "batons" north. These batons will contain messages of support for Tony and for his children and family. It would be wonderful if you wanted to join in. There are threads with details of where/when etc.

While this ride is to support Tony in his battle, it also has an important role in raising funds for the Cancer Society.

Please spread the word about these events.

If you are able, please come down and give us some moral support anytime during Relay weekend. The Candle Light Ceremony is a beautiful and poignant highlight of the event, and is held at dusk.

Thank you in advance for supporting Tony and the L's Angels attempt to raise some money for the Cancer Society.

Very cool, an extremely worthy cause, and pulling together our resources for one of the most amazing guys I know. Everyone should get behind this 100%! I know heaps of people have dealt with the big C in some way or another, this relay for life is an awesome way of showing those we care about just how much we do. So show your support by making donations, and turning up on the 3rd to cheer us on!

Cheers! :)

Will be a big day for many next saturday..with the ride happening also.
The response from the initial request to get involved was amazing.
From personal friends of Tony's to those who only met a short time ago through to those who had yet to even meet him.
Many many thanks to you all for getting in to make this happen.
Some of the riders are staying at our house after what will be a very very long day on the bike.
Cant see us getting home till around midnight, might even to a lap or two to loosen up the bum checks.

ahem, Maha....i think some of the walkers are also staying.....

yes it is quite amazing what is coming together, and I am quite proud actually to be part of it. the reason for it is a sad one, but the reaction to it is overwhelmingly positive.

You know I feel very privileged to be associated with such a wonder bunch of people. Sad is one word for it, but it is also very empowering for everyone involved.

There are beds here, I am sure we will all fit in. Heaven knows what we will eat, but I am sure we wont starve. Bring Chocolate, I will have wine :sunny: I wonder just how long I manage to stay up Sunday night
