Hey,
Been a long time since I have been on the forum.
Move up to Wellington and just getting my bike on the road again, it has been on hold for nearly 2 years, and has only been on the road for 3 month intervals before that. Hasnt had much use in the last 5 years really.
We are in Johnsonville, Wellington. Just noticed today a place called "Richards Motorcycle Services"
http://yellow.co.nz/y/Motorcycles+%26+Scooters/Richards+Motorcycle+Services/102519043_1187.html
Anyone used these guys before?
They are very handy to me, rather than having to take it into town.
Just need a full service and check, all fluids, WOF etc.
Cheers

Just go and talk to them. Not to hard to figure out if they're any good. Busy as ??? ... is a clue. Number of bikes in there getting work done ... etc

Never used him, but I've heard good reports of his work.
Might have a wee commission for him soon...

Cheers.
Was just curious - more than capable of going in to talk to him, but just wanted to know if anyone heard anything bad before I got time off work to find out myself.
Will go and check the place out, only driven past.
Cheers

Hey ya. Have been using Richard for years, 20+ when I dwell on it. Knows his stuff and is handy to home. Judy his wife is great. Richard has attracted bad rap on here at times but to be honest I've never ever had a problem. Yeah is a little quirky, I just think he doesn't suffer fools to well, but then isn't that the same for us all!!!. Go in, be straight, you won't regret it.

I've been told by various people that he's an egotistical cunt, but that's neither here nor there.

Richard is sweet as to deal with. Have been a customer 8+ years and never done me wrong. Always got good genuine advice,he dosnt mind if i ring up with questions etc, and you can barter on prices a wee bit. He is often very busy, so can maybe come across a little bit short if he is in a hurry, but if you dont waste his time he wont waste yours. :niceone:

egotistical, no. Eccentric & sometimes a bit grumpy, maybe slightly opinionated, well ok probably.
On a good day he is quite chatty, on a bad day he just has his head down trying to get through the workload before the day is overwhelmed.
But he won't bullshit you, & he is thorough & will notice things like brakepad wear that may pass other mechanics by. But he doesn't even try to sell you.
I do majority of my own servicing etc, but I book & ride from the Hutt to Jv to get WOFs done. Be lucky to have him nearby.

Have had lot's of dealings with Richard over the years and always found him great, knows his stuff and calls a spade a spade. He comes across a little gruff at times but I put that down to my explanations of the problems, that thingy there you know that whatsit thing, can you fix it?..usually doesn't help. He has always fixed the thingy!..Would recommend him:niceone:

Thanks for the responses.
Tried booking in to get a full service, brake pads and WOF, but turns out they are so busy they are not taking new jobs at the moment! Clearing the backlog and wont be available for about a month.
Damn.
Brake pads are right down, no WOF, no Rego and in need of a service - ideally didnt want to have to ride it into town.
Might just do it all myself, order in the parts and take it to VTNZ ( :( ) this time or something.

PS: We'll happily do the work, but we are dearer than those guys.

TSS in Lower Hutt used to offer a free Welly-wide pick-up service with their workshop, maybe still do. Worth a call.

Just because he's a homo doesn't mean he can't fix bikes.

Ya know, for a self-proclaimed heterosexual you sure do know an awful lot of homos.

OK I'm here...
who needs servicing?
or should I refraze that... what bike needs servicing???
Wanabe, you in Jvill and need a service? .. I'm your man.
in fact if anyone's looking for a good deal, just holla on the way of a PM and Ill get right back to ya.
I CBF doing massive engine rebuilds etc but ya general servicing and repairing for wofs etc etc no worries.
Ill normally do it while ya wait, but if you can drop the bike off its easier for me.
I'm an A Grade mechanic by trade, but have been working on bikes since I was 9!
Cheers!
