Hadta call the fire brigade last night...

Woken by a "CRACK! crack! CRACK!" noise somewhere close by. Now there are two empty houses round me at the moment..(for some reason both my neighbours moved out right after I moved in...dunno why...I haven't even pissed over their fences! :innocent:) so I was little curious.

I figured I oughta take a look in case some little bastard was checking rocks at windows or summat. Got to the lounge and there's a bright orange glow above the drapes. "Funny" I thought, "there's no sodium lights on this street..."

Pulled the drapes back and the driveway neighbour's carport is in full burn mode - flames a-leaping and smoke a-billowing. Nobody seemed to be taking any notice of it at all - apart from me.
Being such a good citizen, I figured I ought to inform the fire service - before it got to the fence and came along my way. Can't be having with my garage getting involved and the Vixen frying as well.

Did the deed. Eventually the fire boys arrived and squirted it out. All quiet so back to bed.

Had a look this morning. Carport pretty fucked but the car was out in front looking perfectly healthy. Seems occupants were out at the time of the fire. I poked my head over the fence to ask about it but they were remarkably uncommunicative for some reason.

Still, all's well I guess.

While frequency increases with age, volume decreases. :msn-wink:

Car was probably supposed to be IN the carport.

You have a nasty suspicious mind, y'know that?

(Exactly what I thought myself...)

Did you try to put the fire out with a garden hose while waiting for the fire truck?

Nah - only got a short hose connected at the mo. By the time I got a longer one sorted it woulda been mid-winter and the fire woulda froze itself out...

I wondered about marshmallows, though...

Hope they didn't think you did it!

Aye, always best to get the firemen oot. When we first came out here we rented a place in Whitby with a wooden balcony/deck and a 20 foot pine tree. Some "kids" had been going on a fire spree and had set the hill below us alight. I'd just put the kids to bed and the missus shouted up asking what the orange glow was outside of the window. Fookin hell when those pine trees go up they're spectacular. We had to get them back at midnight as they hasn't fully put it out though.
