Could end up taming us down.
To the naked local guy turning up, bring some leathers/helmet/boots/back protector etc, and if any of us like you, we might let you go for a ride on the bike. You have to ride fully geared up the first time. If you don't like us, don't worry, you can run away.
I reckon we should take heaps of pix, post them somewhere and not tell AJ where. That'll teach him for abandoning us.

What? New van? Umm, I'm feeling ripped off here. We just got ours all nice & legal again - I really did try to find us another one but failed and it was easier to sort ours out for probably another year or so. So, camper van, van van, or what? Guess I'll find out next week. (you bringing your wife? I hear they have a good nail technician down Te Puke).
Right - bike - if nothing sorted, bring your gear, I want to have a race with you (or try to chase you down or kick your arse or whatever on the day). Bring gear. We'll put you on one of our bikes (obviously not mine), if nothing sorted.

Righto, can anyone who can take a bag or two of rubbish back home with them, also bring some rubbish bags down.
We'll bring a couple of our council ones which we'll take back full. Was a PITA transferring the bags into council bags last time round, so thought we'd be a bit smarter this time.
Once again, we're wanting to come back to another track, and it's not fair to leave it all to Steve.
Oh, BabyB, AJ's told me to harrass you - you're being harrassed and have to come say hello and wave flags. There'll be other kids around, so you can bring them things too if you have to ;) hehehe

Flag wavers always appreciated. Actually, any help is always appreciated, even if we forget to say thank you.
We will probably be needing lapscorers, basically we're a demanding lot, but somehow it always gets done, even if not super correctly and without a bit of aggravation on the organisers' behalf.
Just be nice to have a bit of a plan. I'd actually like to watch a bit of racing for a change instead of being on flags or in lapscoring, so intend on being on strike this meeting (but depends on numbers).

HA! the 6 or 7 bags of rubbish I took from Tokoroa are still sitting in the driveway awaiting a 'Tip Run' . We have new lapscoring software to try out, might mean we need to run the 30 lap race 3 or 4 times to get it right.

OK .... that was Te Puke, Well run by the organisers and the track itself is a realy great track, very tight, lots of elevation changes and hair pin corners. The weather was fine Saturday wet Sunday, and rained all day long but great racing and times in the wet were much the same as the dry. Saturday nights socialising was fun and started with Port a Corner then went on late into the night.
And Tokoroa was no fluke as Av managed :first::first::first:
Placings were:-
Race 1 Av :first: Gav-V :second: Rick :third: and Kel 4th, riding the Beast .....
Race 2 Av :first: Gav-V :second: Rick :third: and Kel
Race 3 Av :first: Gav-V :second: Kel :third: and Rick
I think this leaves Kel, Rick and Av tied for points and Gav-V very close behined, this could be a nail biter to the end.
So three 2-Strokes and Gav-V's FXR at the pointy end all day, roll on Taupo, only two weeks ....... :D
There were quite a few bikes, lots of FXR's and quite a few other 2-Strokes running TF engines so a very interesting mixed bag.
Hopefully someone will have a more complete list of places as there were many very good rides and people were going astoundingly fast in the wet conditions.

The Te Puke starts were up hill so a wee bit harder with a stroker and she got swamped on the start in the second race and had to work for it, but pretty much a repeat of Tokoroa as she romped away leaving at least half a lap between her and second place in every race.
Not surprising as she was sledging the front entering the corners, getting her knee down and power sliding the bike with both wheels drifting exiting the faster corners. She rode like an angry young woman keen to get home and into some dry warm clothes.
Then second, third and fourth circulated as a tight group with a bit of a gap back to the main body of riders.

It was nothing like Tokoroa. There was no oil slick to avoid. There was a slight petrol spill on Saturday, but no oil.
Umm, after fourth, someone came fifth. Then someone sixth and all the way through to last place. Kamil was usually in last place, unless he pulled off the track. He ate a dodgy pie this morning, honest.
Rick had problems with some traffic a couple of times, but Av rode like a chick possessed. She was awesome to watch and made it hard to flag - especially when trying to watch other battles and the area I was flagging, but everyone behaved and there wasn't much carnage.
A huge thanks to Mr Bennett for an awesome series so far, shame it's coming to an end, but looking forward to Kaitoke :)
Little Josh has gelled so well with his FXR, he's riding awesomely. He won't be with us in C grade down at Kaitoke. Rick is not allowed to get Will a 150, maybe put him on Josh's old bike or something (actually then he can go in B grade and leave me in peace lol).
Thanks to NigelA for coming across and reminding us what he looks like :)
Basically a fun event (again), and shame about the weather.
Mark - how is the thumb? Broken? Hope you'll be sort of right for Kaitoke.

Front runners, I think in race two, when Av had to work her way to the front after being swamped at the start.
The racing was close and there were groups all through the field battling it out like this.

21 Av, 52 Rick, 33 Gav-V and 14 Kel on the Beast. 2-stroke 2-stroke 4-stroke 2-stroke

Av riding the Motard up the longest straight bit on the track, not much room for the strokers to do their stuff in the F4 races, Taupo whith its longer straights should be very interesting.

Very interesting track ,I think it's my top track would have loved more dry laps,in the wet it was grippy but hard to pass and not a lot of run off ,I thnk Av had over a second on us but Gav Kel and me were very even .
Great work Steve and Nig for the meeting to go so well cheers fellas
The one thing we might have to think about is people running slicks in the wet and people on wets in the same race as the lap times are like b grade and a grade in the same race .
I under stand that it cost money and time for wheels and tyres it was years before I got my wets sorted ,not sure what we could do ,it was probably the track that highlighted it because it was hard to pass .
Saturday night was great fun with port and cigars ,you guys rock !!

Haha no not really a complaint ,it is only buckets ..wets are amazing so we were only 4-5 seconds slower than in the dry ,on slicks it must be 15sec slower ...bloody good effort for anybody to ride on slicks in the rain , I am rubbish and always crash With slicks .

That track was really grippy in the wet and someone with the skills and balls could have pushed really very hard in the earlier part of the day when it wasn't too wet.
It does require riding with no safety margin though and it really stressful and bloody hard work. I know I harass riders of slick-shod bikes as poofs and soft-cocks but I would have them myself if I could afford them and the extra rims. It's really the rims that make it a pain.
EDIT: I almost highsided a few times, then I slowed down alot.

Great idea, you're in charge of weather from now on and I'm off to put my spare rims with wets on TM since I'll never need them again before the bottom falls out of the market.
Top marks for anyone who goes out in the wet on slicks as far as I'm concerned, I remember what it was like before I got poofter tyres and from memory I averaged three crashes per wet meeting.

Easy solution, club racers in the UK are not allowed slicks so we all raced on intermediates, these offer good grip in all but monsoon conditions. So all we need to do is change the rules and import a few hundred pairs of inters.

To keep costs down we should run Kendas or golden boys as a control tyre. Will save on tyre costs but may slightly increase every bodies crash damage budget.

Been thinking about the road race thing. At a guess it wouldn't be as simple as "the kart guys are having a street race, let's tack onto it"
Too lazy to go and look at the rule book but I think it has some reasonably involved things to say about street circuits.
But would be dead keen

Wanganui, Boxing Day.
I've done it a few times on my RG50/TS100 bucket. F3 is fine. The fast guys piss off and the rest are good for annoying. Thankfully Clubmans isn't run any more, that was scary. With the modern style buckets we'd be real competitive round that circuit. Buckets are fast in places the bigger bikes aren't and are light and agile enough to be stuffed up the inside even going through the esses, though it pays to close one eye through there.

It'd be pretty cool to get a good field of buckets at Wanganui in F3.

One would want a nutty fast bucket and balls of steel.
I know what you mean about the different characteristics but it kind of makes it even more scary mixing it with other bikes, esp when being lapped.

You only get lapped by the 1st couple of bikes in class, maybe. The last year I did it I got 14th and 17th in F3 starting from the back of the grid each time. I've got a picture somewhere of me pitched in over the bridge into the start/finish straight on the bumps with air under both wheels. Going through the esses the front would lift over the hump in the road as I changed direction. A little tug on the bars would see it come right up mid corner. John Boyle had a laugh, he reckons I was the only one changing up going into the esses.
Wanganui is an awesome bucket track. The straights aren't too long and the railway line and esses are good for lightweight bikes as they are both quickish right/left corners. People like Rich and anyone else on a quickish bucket would be in amongst it big time. The big bike riders don't like how hard we ride as well so tend to give buckets a wide berth.

How fast were the top bikes then?
I'd likely be faster on a very fast bucket than when I tried it on my VFR road bike but it would still be scary crazy.

Been thinking about the road race thing. At a guess it wouldn't be as simple as "the kart guys are having a street race, let's tack onto it"
Too lazy to go and look at the rule book but I think it has some reasonably involved things to say about street circuits.
But would be dead keen
Forget who I talked to about it but I got more of a 'can you guys come?' kind of comment. I think the numbers would help them.

When the road is closed for racing its no longer a public road... No licence required.

Paeroa being SH requires a civil licence doesnt it....? Pretty sure there was something about that in the supp regs.

You also require higher grade of official to oversee it. Was talk of kill switch cords, I actually bought on in case but was never enforced. We used to race a few street ccts. Ohakune being most prominent & there was Foxton, a couple near Palmy, Silverstream suburb.

Righto stats for this year:
Round 1: broken wrist
Round 2: broken bike
Round 3: not quite sure what's stuffed, but Mark's had surgery on his thumb
Round 4: NOTHING'S ALLOWED TO BREAK
At least Mark's injury was due to bike and track and not being a dumbass. See, he needs to bring his wife along to keep an eye on him, she wasn't there, so he broke himself.

Sheesh, if you were that worried about me beating you again, all you had to say was you needed a win, it ain't that important to me lol
Sorry to hear about the kidney stones as well, not a good time. Your wife really has to come to the next meet to keep an eye on you lol :)
