totally different, shaped, firmer more supportive foam, lifted me up & back an extra inch, pillion seat is wider, thicker & more supportive as well.

I have a 2001 Volusia, and the seat looks pretty much the same as mine. I guess your one might have been different though, if it was a newer model.

Dad has an M50 as well, when they are side by side, you can definately see a difference.

The lift up & back with the John's Forward Control kit means I'm nice and laxed out. I love it.

Money wise, roughly how much? Did it take long? I'd like to improve the seat on my XVS650.

I've ridden a few times with a sleeping bag on the pillion and leant on it and found it immensely comfortable.

I did the TT2000 last week including a few hours with a sleeping bag on the pillion seat - it was a great back rest.

After 2000+ km, on what looks like a comfortable seat, my tail bone ached.

I got home on Monday and on Tuesday took my rider seat to an upholsterer to get more padding. Particularly around the tail bone.


My Wife finds the C50T pillion seat uncomfortable after about 45 minutes. I'm going to get more padding put in it to make it more comfortable and to lift her up a bit more in relation to the foot pegs.

First road test of the new seat yesterday, Pukekohe - Tauranga. All good so far. No more numbness accross the top of my butt / lower back.

On to Waiouru today for a work course.

my wife also finds the C50 pillion seat not that great. we are thinking of getting a mustang seat as both the seats are looking a bit 2nd hand. I have lots of k's on.

Back from Waiouru today. Can definitely say that the new seat is awesome. No pain / numbness whatsoever.

I just got my riders seat back from the upholsterer today.

He took the factory cover off and shaped a foam insert to fit then put the factory cover back on.

He used something he called 'Elephant Foam'. It raised the seat by about 35mm (which doesn't matter) but more importantly it added some much needed cushioning. Especially around the tail bone.

It is really comfortable. Best $95 I've spent in a long time.


I'm taking the pillion seat in to be done next week.

Thats the thing I like about the new (2010, headlight nosecone) M50, Suzuki seem to have included changes like "Mac" has done to your seat into the factory seat. I picked my bike up from Hastings and first ride was 300 km home to Tauranga, arrived home with no numb bum, found it really comfortable. Also, you can feel the rise of the pillion seat against your lower back - I had the same feeling on GLORIA and like having thatpositive step in the seat behind me.e

Just back from 1416 km's round trip Pukekohe to Wellington, 3 days in and around Wellywood and back home. I love my new seat.
