I'm wondering if someone can help me out here. I've tried on the Bell Indy M4R helmet and I liked it, but the colour I would be wanting is apparently discontinued. Looking online there seems to be next to nothing on the M4R, and the new big thing is the RS-1. I like the look of this helmet a lot and the features for price sound brilliant. It's also a lot cooler looking than the M4R. But it seems to be an American helmet and I can't find squat about it online locally. If I can get one from a local dealer, then I'll look into it for sure, but it's starting to look a lot like they aren't available here. I can buy it on any number of websites, but I'd want to be sure it is going to fit.

Is there a division between European and American helmets? Do we not get the American ones?

Try these guys (http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Detail.bok?no=12799) - good service. It took about 3 weeks to get a helmet here from them, cost $340NZ (they had a special 'run-out') and local list is 700 - 800.

if the american helmet is snell rated then they tend to be heavier than the euro standard, due to the testing method,

Check the avalibility of replacement visors before buying. That goes for most brands.

The guys at the link supplied do the Youtube reviews of the RS-1 (and a whole lot of other helmets) and they are rather proud of their involvement with Bell during the development process. They compare it favorably with the Shoei X-12. Getting replacement visors won't be a problem, and Bell even do a photo-chromatic shield which darkens according to the level of light... which sounds perfect.
I was just wondering why on earth I can't seem to find it locally.
