Im thinkin of hitting a track day at Pukekohe soon. What gear do you take? I will be riding the bike there so cant take to much.
Was thinking basic tools, some lunch and water. Anything else?

petrol money, tyre pressure gauge, race tape, water, more water. Testing day or trackday?

Make sure your tyres are fresh, you have plenty of meat on your brake pads, and your bike isn't going to leak any fluids anywhere. Change the oil if you haven't done that recently. Think about what tyre pressures you'll be running, too, don't just head out onto the track with tyres pumped up to whatever. Warm your tyres up for a lap or two before you go hard. Remind yourself that it's not a race.

so would you run slightly lower pressures because the tyres will get hotter therfore pressuruze more or is it the opposite?

Precisely.
Edit: I used to run my GSX1400 on Pilot Power 2CTs at 42/38 PSI on the road, 32/32 PSI on the track.
Can't go too low pressure on a big bike or it'll just flay the rear to bits within a lap or two.

Take you bike.
...as a last resort, someone else's bike generally works out to have been a better idea.

Make sure you have plenty of water/fluids to drink there as on the track takes it out of you and dehydration is last thing you want on the track!

Yeah will be doin all that. I used to race cars for years so would do all that stuff before hitting the track. Have an urge to wire lock her but a bit overkill for a trackday. Will be trying different pressures to see how they feel.
Got some old lap times to beat......

Prorider on Friday?... It'd be a track day. I've never been to any of their courses or trackdays but I've heard they're a pretty good outfit.
You don't need much. Some money, some food, lots of water and a good attitude. You can leave the timing gear at home (it's only track day after all) but definitely the chance to give it a nudge.
Oh, and don't bother lock wiring unless you think it's going to fall off.
Have fun!

how far do you plan to ride each way?
The amount on concentration and all the energy you burn will have a surprisingly tiring effect on you. dont ride there and back if its a decent distance each way.
Take shit loads of water - and take some snacks that will give you some energy, youll be gutted if you tire easily and miss out and gaining everything you can from your first trackday.

Its about half hour each way from home. Yeah I know about the tireds. I drove back from Taupo a few times with the racecar on a trailer trying to stay awake. Got mates that live around there so may stay the night.
I work in the fitness industry so have got a bit of knowledge of food and hydration.
Looking forward to it but finances looking a little tight so may be a little while yet.

Riding back make sure you keep an eye on your speedo, after going fast on track I always have a tendency to lose my sense of speed so sitting on 150kph on the motorway thinking I was doing a 100kph won't probably cut it as an excuse :weep:

stay at ya mates the night before and after. have a few beers and watch any vids you take of your own riding - amazign what you can learn even afterwards.
Ive considered asking one of the superbike guys to take my (borrowed) GoPro on their bike for a race, then do a few laps myself, and compare the vids later to see some of the many things I could do better

Yes, if you're going to a trackday in another town (well, more than 100km or so away), get accommodation nearby the night before and the night following.
Makes it all a whole lot more pleasant. You don't want to be getting up super early and having bleary eyes by lunchtime on the day, and post trackday one just generally wants to get on the piss and talk shit and have a rest, not mission home.

Ah, what a good idea! I hadn't thought of that

What about the ART day Rob? I'll be out there as well but I don't think I'd be able to get my bike out there on Friday, really need to get out there again and April 22nd seems so far away!
