Help! Bike died while trying to start it

I went to start my bike up today. Turn on the ignition and lights up as usual. Push the starter button and it dies. Lights go out... nothing. Dead as a door knob. I checked the battery and everythings still connected. My battery is only a few months old. Had the regulator replaced not long ago under the Suzuki regulator replacement scheme.
Does it sound like that the battery wasnt charged enough? problem charging?


any theories appreciated. My bike is my only transportation so its kinda urgent. Gonna phone around the shops first thing in the morning.

No idea. All my bikes are from the 80s. One will roll start and run without the key in. Another has this funny lever which you kick to start it.

Im very tempted to try it. Theres definately something to be said for older model bikes. Think im gonna buy myself a carb fed bike. Much easier to deal with and maintain. Even an idiot like me can do it.

Otherwise I'd say your battery voltage is too low.

Thankyou. Thats exactly what I thought. In which case the battery is not being charged properly which doesnt make sense because its a new battery and I have had the regulator replaced. Surely they would have checked the charge rate after replacing it? or maybe its the brand of battery?... I have no idea.

...plugs sometimes need a look at and endless things like that...chase your problem yourself...find the answer...ask yourself why...learn more ...(take a bus)...

Have you got access to a multimeter?
I'd say your reg/rec will be fine seeing as it's new. Might pay to check the fluid levels in the battery too.

Make sure the battery is fully charged and check your battery, starter and earth leads are all clean and tight.
