Saw this today at the intersection of Fort and Commerce st's in Downtown auckland.

I mean, sure why not at a pub in a small town but downtown auckland in a crappy outdoor parking area?

Owner is a trusting soul. Or maybe the helmet doesn't fit well and is well insured...

I agree wholeheartedly. Wouldn't been seen dead with touring tyres on an R6.

I have done that very thing...parked the bike at an Albany mall, went into a shop, bought something after about 15 mins, came out, walked over to the bike and there was my helmet, sitting on the seat where I had left it.

I've seen worse - rider left his key in the ignition at the carpark at the bottom of Haywards hill.

They didn't really want it stolen as it had a disc lock on the front wheel.

Tried to make contact via rego number and Police to no avail.

Took key out and attached it to his disc lock - seemed the best place to leave it for them.

unless you lifted the helmet you probably cant be sure, I can put my helmet on the R1 like that, it appears to be just sitting there, but its locked to the underneath of the pillion seat

It's a Yamaha. What is behind is of no importance.

I personally wouldn't want to ride in another person's helmet anyway. Though that's a fair amount of trust that the guy has to leave it out there in such an area

James. Dear oh dear. Looking at the size of the chicken strips, they're probably the best choice of tyre for that rider.

Perhaps it's booby trapped? 500 grams of semtex attached to a pressure sensor?

I walked past this bike again today as I had an excuse to go to that part of town (photography assignment) and had a good close look.

The D rings on the chinstrap were attached to a small wire loop that disappeared under the pillion seat. So it was locked after all

That said, it could be leading to a semtex shaped charge......
