Should be a great night, smell of ethanol and burning rubber, nothing like Speedway.
Old Reading Racers supporter, Mad Welly, Jan Peterson, Per Jonsson, sadly no longer operating as a club.
Many a night spent down at Reading Raceway.
If you have never been to Speedway, you have no idea what you are missing.

In the 90's we tried to ride on that clay. It worked while it was warm and before there was any water put down. But as soon as the sun dropped below the trees the dampness came back up and there was no way we could ride there w/o looking like twats.

$50 a bit expensive? This is a world class event. I was pleasantly surprised to see it at $50, I would have expected twice that (and I would have paid it)

These are the worlds best riders, for the first time (that I have heard of) in NZ, millions will be watching this on TV all over the world. $50 is pretty cheap for what you get to see.

On a side note, Western Springs is a huge track in comparison to the tracks in most of Europe so they will be going faster than usual aswell :woohoo:
Any policemanofficer want to bring their radar to see what speeds these boys are getting up too?:Police:

You mustn't get out much

We upgraded to the grandstand seating and if we'd known about it back then would have waited for the hospitality seating to become available at $250

$50 for a world championship event is cheap as chips

At $50 I was smiling. They could have charged $75 and got the same crowd.

Unfortunately proper speedway isn't as popular as car speedway in NZ so not sure if the same crowd would turn up at a higher price. Sure most motorcyclists and speedway fans would be gouing for what ever price they charge, but being just $50 has convinced a few of my mates out for a gander.

Standard track is 1/4 mile. Western Springs was built as a cycle track, which were 500 yards, then. Much more camber too.

Same same but different. (There is a story to that saying. Might share it one day). I will drive up to Rotorua on Friday with my youngest boy. He rides MX in Rotorua on Sat morning (School champs). Will not have time to ride all races before we have to drive up to the Speedway. We will allow 4 hours. Stay in Akl the night. Then Sunday morning he will be riding in Huntley.

On the Sunday, in the CBD, is the Red Bull Endurocross, which'll be worth having a stop at. Not sure about time/where/what/how/if/when etc, but it'll be worth looking into to see if it can slot into your schedule.

I was slack with getting tickets to the Speedway and only got them about a month ago. Wasn't prepared to buy the super expensive tickets, but thought $50 good value & have paid more for some mx/sx events we've been to.

Westhaven, starts at 10am. Looks like it'll be a great event.

Oh, on the Saturday at the Cloud is a beer festival but no idea what time that starts (Henk was gutted when he found it clashed with the day of speedway)
