go whibs (met his suspension guy on a ride a while ago so we're pretty tight, lol) and rory!
whats the story with them holding the race during the week? do they use the weekend to practise or something? just seems a bit weird that just about every other motorsport event is held in the weekend.
hopefully theres good youtube coverage again this year, enjoy watching the gncc stuff.

"Lots of drama. Whibs getting stuck on the Iron Man Hill then runs out of gas. Russel had trouble on the hill twice. XC1 going to be a winner take all at the last round. XC2 had major drama with the Iron Man Hill deciding the race out come too. Again the last race will determine the championship. "

Good to see Adrian Smith get into the points with a solid 9th beating Jimmy Jarret and Nate Kanney, although they may have had "issues".
Battles within battles as the gap between 3rd (Mead) and 4th (Duvall) is only 8 points.

He should have got 4th but...
KTM protested Whibley because he didn't stop in his pit after getting gas from Jimmy Jarrett who used a old beer can he found.
"After receiving fuel from another rider on the course, Whibley rode straight through the checkers to finish in fourth place behind Russell. However, Whibley did not return to his pit for more fuel, which is a violation of GNCC Rulebook Section H – On Track Regulations:
6. Riders must fuel in their designated Pro Pit area. In the event a rider runs completely out of fuel, he may obtain fuel outside his designated Pro Pit area sufficient only enough to allow him to return to his designated pro pit area for re-fueling.
As a result, Whibley was docked 15 seconds and one finishing position, ultimately giving him fifth place in the XC1 class."

I guess it's never totally official until it's announced, but I would say baring a protest it's a done deal :), I figured Knighter would be in the know.
What I never checked was how Rory did & he pulled a solid 6th which meant he kept 3rd overall, a great result as well.

Race Report: GNCC final, Loretta Lynn’s, TN
Rider: Paul Whibley
Team: AmPro Yamaha
Bike: Yamaha YZ450 F
Result: 1st
We did it!!! It has been a tough season with many great races and it came down to the last
round. We came into the final event trailing Kailub Russell by one point after leading the whole
season. I knew the last one was going to be a big day. The Loretta Lyn’s track has been good to
me in the past winning there last year but it has not been one of my favourites with its hard
base and rocky soil. This year the trail was dry but an effort had been made to utilize some
fresh woods.
The race start went to plan taking the hole shot for the 12th time this year, Snowshoe doesn’t
have one. Something to be stoked with right there, taking every start in the GNCC season. I led
the way and was riding a little tight but knew I was where I needed to be. I loosened up and
settled in for a battle. I expected Kailub to soon put the heat on and make a run for the front. I
was getting pit boards over the first few laps and my lead was slowly growing and the gap to
Kailub was out to about 30 seconds.
A conservative pit strategy had us fuelling twice. On the
first stop Japanese rider Takashi Koikeda who was riding great and on a one stop pit strategy
took the lead briefly while I was taking on gas. I soon retook the lead and continued to set the
pace up front. Jordan Ashburn was also having a strong race and was swapping positions with
Takashi for most of the race.
The second pit stop went smoothly and I had enough of a lead to come in and out without
losing a spot. I kept the heat on and stretched the lead to 2 minutes by the end to take the
Championship. Big thanks to the AmPro Yamaha team, Randy, Ryan, Gary, Donnie, Bonez. All
the great sponsors and supporters, we could not have done it without their generous help.
Thanks to all the fans and family for the cheering and support.
Finally a Huge Thank you to
Katherine, without her this would not have all been possible.

Race Report: OMA final Camden, TN
Rider: Paul Whibley
Team: AmPro Yamaha
Bike: Yamaha YZ450 F
Result: 1st
Gusse waved the green flag for last time in the 2012 OMA season and the final race was on.
The first turn was loose rocky soil and Russell Bobbitt from his usual spot inside me nabbed the
hole shot. The first few straights I got showered in stones as I tried to make something happen
before we dove into the woods. The first section was tight and fresh with a lot of leaf cover. I
hit something and washed the front out allowing Nick Fahringer by.
I quickly remounted and gave chase before my teammate Jordan Ashburn could sneak by as well. Nick and Russell both
set a good pace and it took a couple of laps before I could take the position back from Nick.
Russell was running up front and in clean air had built a buffer of about 20 seconds. I put my
head down and bridged the gap just before we came in for fuel. Katherine rounded up Ryan
Brehob to help with the fuelling and he proved he can handle a dump can just as well as his
camera.
With 3 laps to go the pace seemed to step up with each lap. A small mistake by Russell in the
tight section allowed me through to the lead with a lap and a half to go. Mid last lap Russell
pulled out a line that he was saving and retook the lead. The pace was now upped to a frenzied
moto. I sliced up the inside in a turn and showed him a wheel, putting some pressure on. Then
on the next straight he blew a turn and ran wide into a rain rut. I took the lead and held it on to
the finish. Russell pushed me right to the line with Nick not far behind us in third.
A great way to finish up the OMA season for 2012.
Again thanks to all the great sponsors and
supporters who made this possible. Also a big Thanks to everyone who has helped us out in
the pits this season.

After a long and hard fight for the championship, Paul Whibley was able to secure his 2nd GNCC Championship in 2012. Although it was by a narrow margin and everything came down to the final round, Paul rode a commanding race at Loretta’s to secure the title. We caught up with Paul to hear about his 2012 season, plans for the future and more.

Race Report: 2013
Rider: Paul Whibley
Team: AmPro Yamaha
Bike: Yamaha YZ450 F
Our plans for 2013 are set. We will be returning to the States to again compete in the GNCC
and OMA series for the AmPro Yamaha team.
2012 was a great year with many highlights. Winning my fifth straight OMA championship is
one and reclaiming the GNCC championship after 2 years is another. There were many fun
races with some awesome competitors, Nick Fahringer and Russell Bobbitt in the OMA series.
To say these guys were hungry for a win is an understatement, they
were starving!!! They both pushed hard and I had some of the closest and most fun battles of
the year with these two top dudes. In the GNCCs, it all kicked off in Florida with an intense
battle with Charlie Mullins right to the line, where we both basically collapsed in a heap. Kailub
Russell proved to be the biggest challenge of the season. We were separated by 1 point going
into the last round after 36 hours of racing.
A huge Thanks to all the supporters and sponsors. Ash at Monster Energy, Bret at Shoei, Bill
and Jojo at Sidi, Brady and Mark from Smith, Matt and the crew at MSR, Gus and Frank at
Kenda, Paul from Leatt, Britt from Stuk, Zak, the Mikes and Rick from Factory Connection.
Donnie and the team at FMF, Danny at EC3D, Paul @ Kettleclamp, Brian and the crew at
Rukluse, Rachel at IMS, The team at Wiseco, Mark from Tireballs and Brian at Unabiker, Steve
at CV4, Colleen at Asterisk, Charles from ProTaper, Chase from Cycle gear. Brian from Alliance
Offroad, Hamish from Darbis, Richy from Moto SR. Especially the guys that helped me take
every holeshot in the GNCC series. Sam and Gary from G2 for the throttle cams. Richard and
Mike from Vortex Ignitions and Ryan at Works Connection for the aptly named Holeshot
device. Also can’t forget, Fred, Scotty, Morrie, Dan, Rem, Brandon, Bonez, Rossco, Gordy, Mike.
All our friends in the States that make it our 2nd home. All the family and supporters in NZ that
keep us going. Huge thanks to Donnie from Yamaha, Peter from Yamaha NZ. Randy Hawkins
and family from AmPro Yamaha. My Mechanic,Ryan. Finally, Katherine for her endless support.
Hope everyone has a Merry Xmas and Happy New Years.
