Scorpio Z cable chaffing problems?

Noticed that both my Speedo and Tachometer cables are starting to show signs of chaffing.

They appear to be rubbing on the front forks bottom clamp.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced similar problems ?

How can you prevent / fix this problem?

Any Ideas / thoughts?

Sorry i have never had issue with speedos chaffing.Maybe lube...

Ypu could maybe get a piece of plastic tubing with an ID about the same as the OD of the cables, slit the tube and fit a few centimetres over each of the cables where they rub.

But I'm not a mechanic so don't take too much notice of me :whistle:

Afterthought: There's always duct tape.

self-amalgamating-tape is what we use to insulate overhead and underground cable joints.It goes off and forms like rubber.Its very expensive for a large role but if you know a sparky you could ask for 300mm-500mm(it stretches ) should be enough.Maybe you can find small role online.Plumbers use it also for water pipe repairs.Their version goes all the way up to mains pressure waterpipe repair grade.

Plus one ... Both taco and speedo have a steel core. Chafing wont interfere with the operation of either.

until water flushes the lube out of the steel spring coil and things rust and stick.The reason i suggest amalg is that you will still be able to lube cables.lube would push standard tape away after a while.You really need the outer sheeth water tight so that the like of can cable lube and lube tool still pushes lube all the way along the cable rather than lose pressure at a hole.

All this assuming its worn through to the spring inside already.If it hasnt then standard insulation tape would be ok.

What you can do ... is look at disconnecting one end (whichever is easiest) of each cable ... and re-routing both so they DONT chafe ... or zip-tie them to something to keep them clear.

Have wrapped insulation tape around the affect areas for now.
