Hiya guys,
What I have here is a CDI for a MC19 that has the rev (and speed I think) limits removed. Apparently it also smooths the power curve as well. Plug this bad boy in and your 1988-89 CBR250R will be faster and better than a 2011 R1. It will be better looking too but you don't need the CDI for that, you've got that covered already.
Or at least it will be faster than 'New Zealands fastest Ninja'.
Anyway, this CDI owes me nothing (was given to me) so I'd like to see it go to a good home for free. If you want it posted then I'd ask for a small donation to cover my time posting it etc, plus the postage cost obviously.
First come first serve. Pick up St Albans, Christchurch.

Can I install it in my Corolla or my ZZR600?

Yes... but I believe with these two particular motors it tends to make the whole vehicle invisible and they won't work upside down anymore

I have a mate with a couple of these who would probably jump at the chance.... doesn't seem fair to give it up for nix though... how about he swaps you a bottle of DOT 5.1 fluid for the next time you change the fluid in your R6?

If you also install red rim tape then yes the combined modification will be effective.

Sure thing, I would have a use for that for sure. Or perhaps he has some two stroke transmission oil haha. Either way mate im easy, would like to see someone use this rather than see it sitting next to a bike it wont fit in.

Im almost 100% certain that the CBR250 MC19 should be restricted anyway.....

fixed it for ya, my mc19 wasn't pretty sure they only started restricting in the early 90s when some laws in japan changed or something

correct, 93 onwards or so, the HP was lower, but they altered the engines performance so that it made fuckall of a difference to the non restricted ones - I think from memory they dropped a fair amount of weight (the figure of 6kg springs to mind for some reason) and upped the torque too I think on the "restricted HP" models to counter the HP loss

There were the MC19 J and K models, J were the first of them, up to late 88 assembly. The J had no speed limiter, the K model however was limited to 185.
The restricted MC22 make the same power/torque as the Hornet and CB250 Jade, but with a pointless 18,000rpm redline (tach was just stolen from the MC19)
My theory, is the "derestricted" cdi will do nothing. Better off making an ignition advancer, but at I'd like to see back to back dyno runs of this vs a standard one.

You might be right, as they are all just claims aren't they? But hey for nothing it doesn't cost much to check the difference. The guy who gave it to me was convinced it made a difference, but it's not something I tested!

If I had an MC19 I'd happily test it

I think from memory, their weight has dropped a fair and raise torque, I think that the "restrictions HP" model to counter the loss of HP.
