Reefton for lunch.
Saturday the 31st now as was wet in Reefton on the 24th.
I prefer Saturday to ride and Sunday to bum about recovering in time for work on Monday as I'm not so ride fit at this moment.

Meet at 8:30am at The Peg (Belfast Tavern)... departing at 8:45am aiming to be at the Broadway Tearooms and Bakery about mid day. Rough estimate travelling about 3 to 3.5 hours including stops, not breaking any speed limits.
There are other places you can eat but that's where I'll stop.

Lets do it.

A good idea TA-the ride from springs to Reefton is excellent. Then there are alternative routes home....definite potential.

Think I'll pencil this in , long as weather plays ball .........always the option of others riding to jacksons in arvo for pie and pint to join others for ride home , if a long day isn't workable.

No , engine fully stripped. still doing some costing. Avoiding a patch up job as bike has several keen buyers, that are friends , and stupid not to give it a freshen up while cases apart, alot of kms still left in bike yet.

Watching the weather and the forecast for Reefton is holding steady with rain so not looking good for this weekend.

Concur - looking at 3-day 3-hour forecast looks fairly diabolical ( http://metservice.com/national/maps-rain-radar/rain-radar-forecasts/rain-forecast-3-day ) once it gets into the main divide... :crybaby:

Probably still get out n about but will go with J later in the day and much more local.

We're all soft. The vintage car club motorcycle crew were all off to Ikamatua for the night... they went on their ride.

We ended going down to Fairlie, thru to Pleasant Point for lunch and back to Geraldine via some fun back roads. Nice ride, but not quite enough corners!
Also the NW wind thru Mayfield and ummm Windwistle were strong. Gave us a nice tail wind down Thompsons track however...........!

I cant rhyme all the time. :pinch:

But I get sick of the cost, makes me feel lost.
Bike in the shed, so expensive its offensive.
I need to get out... and about.
Ride and maybe Stop for a stout.

If the weather plays Ball and wifey makes a good call, I may well see you all.

happy now SV? Geeeeee:bash:

Yea, well, guessing that's because most decent rides aren't posted up first so the clicks stay clicked and people we haven't seen for a while don't get the messages any more.
I'm not quite the social animal a lot of you are so normally do rides like this with just one or two others, usually more spur of the moment and not arranged in the public forum, but thought it was about time.

Whats your plan of action for Sat Transalper?
I'll stick with the current post1 plan....

Meet at 8:30am at The Peg (Belfast Tavern)... departing at 8:45am (hope I'm not late especially since I set the time:facepalm:) aiming to be at the Broadway Tearooms and Bakery in Reefton (first one you come to on the left) at about mid day.
From there people can do what ever... we really have two main choices for returning home and it doesn't matter if some go Arthurs and some go Lewis to get back.
I imagine we'll split in to two(ish) groups of 'I am unhappy at the speed limit' and the 'I won't risk speeding' types.
I'll be obeying the limits for my own reasons and promise I will not be try to convince anyone else.

As for regrouping, if it's needed or desired we could do a couple at the likes of Culverden and Springs Junction. Both places have fuel, as does Reefton.

of course all of this depends on whether or not I can drag my lazy ass out of bed at 7:30 on a saturday :cold:

That's one option, it can also be shortened up a bit via Moana etc.

What an awesome ride! Well done TA! We went to Reefton-road a bit damp between Springs and there. I had a quick coffee,-met up with Richard and his wife, while the others put the food bag on and focussed on their suntans, and we took off for the bottom of the upper Buller. OMG! F@#king brilliant!
Got to Murchison, had lunch, blasted the Shanendoah back to springs, thru the Lewis and home. Simply awesome day! A bit tired now:yawn:

Yep, brilliant ride.
Ended up doing the little big block with everyone that didn't do SV boys extra.
Great weather by the time we exited the fog out Amberley way, light traffic, all good, very happy. :2thumbsup

The Airhawk2 helped. ~$140 delivered it was, it's a trick baffled air cushion, the best thing since sliced bread.... not that I ever sat on sliced bread, but now my butt could easily do the day again where as it would be a bit tender in just 200km on that seat with out the new support.

That was fun :ride: It's a bit to different to go that far and end up back at home, normally it's to a rally and a night in the tent. How civilised - I must do it again one day. I might try the SV boy route next time and have lunch at Murchison.

Really enjoyed making the ride and getting around the block as we did. Enjoyed the lunch in my BirthTown.

Thanks heaps.

next ride for I will be the Sundown gig the weekend after next. looking forward to that as well.
