Went for a wee ride today with Mrs J. Ended up doing a 200k figure of eight from home through some of South Canterburys great bike riding roads ending up at home again. On the ride we went through a rural area called Raincliff and came across this Youth Camp. Soon as I saw it I thought Camp KB, 2013! Googled it and it has a web site. (Just google 'Raincliff' and it has all the info needed.) There are a few great loop rides for the Saturday ride and plenty of places to stop at for a lunch. (Geraldine/Fairlie/Cave/Pleasent Point/Rangitata etc) All on sealed roads to. So if there is some interest I will make some enquiries as it looks like a place that gets a bit of use so booking early might be the go.

Be a possible . $750 cover and $15 a person . pretty reasonable if there is about 40ish attend. See you have to apply for permit to drink on site , guess it shouldn't be too much of a hassle if booked well ahead:drinkup:

I have made an enquiry about this venue for the 2013 KB Rally and have just received a reply. 2nd weekend in December 2013 is free and we are most welcome to make a firm booking. The lady said they have recently had a group of "mature" bikers use the centre. That sounds like us, "mature", well most of us anyway!!!!!! The way I read it, all we have to do is gain written permission from the trust committee to have alcohol there and it will cost you $15 a night. The $750 mentioned is just for functions like weddings. So no one is to get married that weekend, OK. Unless anyone can see a reason not to go there in 2013, I will make a firm booking and get them to send out a booking info pack.

The way I read it, the $750 charge is for functions held there like weddings etc. Not if we book it for the weekend. Then it is only $15 per person per night. Just waiting for a 'Booking Pack' to arrive and will be able to confirm costs.

I read it as $32 per adult per night, which seems rather reasonable to me.

I wonder if I could talk the mrs into taking the car down with the drz on the trailer for a play over spur rd/rockwood rd/mckenzie pass/rollesby valley, and me taking the ducati down the long way via the pareora gorge

 I will have to own up as the organiser of "the mature" bikers who used Raincliff in April last year. I booked it for about 40 of us..... and a real mixture of ages.

It is a fantastic venue....massive kitchen & prep area, walk-in cool store, BBQ, it sleeps over 70, lots of showers, toilets bunk rooms. :bleh:

Great quiet location, & xlnt roads nearby, very centally located between Geraldine, Pleasant Point & Fairlie....for food & drink supplies.

Let me know if you need any info etc as I'm happy to help!

Otherwise will book in and see you all there.:niceone:

Well, when I'm allowed to ride again I will be on 'that white tractor', tecnically henceforth known as a FXDXT Harley Davidson - but I will accept T-Sport as a shorter name for it.

However, yesterday when speaking to the surgeon that fitted my $6,000,000 knees I mentioned the likelihood of me getting back on my mountainbike, - the surgeon nearly had a coniption "Oh no, no, no, you are not allowed on one of them for quite some time"

Been away up north. Just sent PM to you. Just pay per head. I cannot find any reference as to minimum numbers. At this rate we will be able to have a room each. For those who have been to a KB rally in the past and are not coming know what they are missing out on, and those that have not been before don't know what they are missing. Hi all. Went for a ride out to Raincliff (Kamp KB 2013) today with Mr Triple to check out the venue. It all looks good. Plenty of room for everyone. There are 12 rooms each with 6 bunks and two lounges at each end of the complex along with the main hall/dining room and well equipped kitchen in the middle. Got the tour of the place with the very pleasant caretakers who live down the road. I asked about a few of the important questions like, fireworks, no problems there. Bike parking, it's OK to park them in front of the dining room as long as they don't leak petrol or oil on the grass. I assured him no worries as there won't be too many Harleys:laugh:

It will cost you $32.00 per adult and $15.00 per child for the weekend regardless if you are there for 1 or 2 nights. This you can pay to me when you get there or if you want to pre pay PM me and I will give you our bank details so you can do that bank transfer thingee.

There is very large outdoor fire/BBQ area so bring a sausage. I will also bring a gas BBQ so that can be used as well. The place has a large walk-in chiller so cold storage for the beer will not be a problem. Kitchen is well stocked with plates and cutlery.

So, it is all set for an awesome weekend. Anyone that has been humming and harring about coming this year bite the bullet and make the effort. If you have not been before you will meet some great people and have a great time. This will be my 5th KB rally and have made some good friends at Kamp KB. When I turned up to my first one I was made quite welcome by those that have been there from the start. If you are still not sure give me a PM or txt, or get in touch with someone going who lives nearby you and ride together.

Saturday lunch will be at the Chequed Flag on SH 1 Rangitata at 1pm (ish). If you are turning up there on the Saturday and won't be there on the Friday night please let me know as I will be ringing them on Friday evening with numbers for Saturday.

Cheers....................Craig

Hope rammy is ok.Rammy is ok, ya see Q wondered if a white sheep could jump, so he stacked up a few crates in the paddock jumped on Rammy and did a circute, lined the hurdles up and went for it... now Q thinks he has big balls but honestly Rammys are bigger, shit they drag on the ground on the coldest days... well rammy made it over the hurdle but is cods didnt, brought the poor old lamb chop to a stand still, Q however carried on landing arse over albo in sheep shit, some what imbrassed and smelling he ran to the hose to wash down, what he didnt relise is one of his turkys had got out and chewed on the Griso wiring loom, draging it across the path, Q fell flat on his face and well hey come on we are all thinking it this could have only improved his looks... feeling some what pissed of Q took a swing at the Turky with his boot clean missed and kicked the house... while hopping around holding on to his foot he seen his favoret MJ doll being molested by the cat, in a hurry to save poor michell he stood on the boys skate board this sending him at warp speed down the drive straight out onto the road were Mrs GB was hooking the swift to the left in order to drift on up the drive, not seeing Q she cleaned him up smack center of the grill, Q went clean over the red demon landing on all fours... ummm two's thinking to himself fark Im a lucky bastard did a highland jig in the middle of the road said 3 hell marys then fell down a pot hole hes been meaning to back fill all month... you guessed it, braking his leg... fucking muppet aye, Rammy then having seen the hole thing pissed him self loughing forgetting that his nads were stuck in Q's empty beer bottles... heres hopping Q removes em before his next brew up, or maybe that be a boil up.

Bloody hell the imagination... love it, great story, should convert it to a script and make a movie!!!!

This leg def aint flash, the ankle is still hugely swollen. And on top of that in a brace that means I cant bend the leg, that kinda sucks to, getting into a car is a mission, let alone fitting right.
Last drive was last week into Rangiora and that was an uncomfortable mission.

In a sense I would be love to be able to blame the home brew. Though only having a couple of bottles of lager over a few hrs... it was not that.
I have had people reckon I wont be on the bike in ages, but I aint gonna listen to such crap. The sooner the better.

Sadly I shall have to await the rally's of 2014 and next years KB, gonna be a shame to have a gap in me collection of KB badges.

Seriously would love to snap the offer. Friday has become our works xmas do, which I have to attend. Then I have a family pre xmas on Sunday due to them running away over the Xmas days, so it has become a right cluster on top of a broke leg... of which I have to be good with, if I am going to be wanting to ride bikes anytime soon. Admitidly sick to death of the leg, and almost feel would be better off with it off.

Yes, weather looks great. Ute already loaded with heaps of firewood for the outdoor fire thanks to the Ashvagas District Council (Not that they are aware it was theirs) Mrs Jackal has even baked a fruit cake to share and we will also bring a heap of the little things like tea, coffee, milk, bread, butter etc. Don't be in too much of a rush to get there as we can only take the place over from 3pm after the last group leaves. As mentioned before, it is going to cost you $32 each for the weekend. If you are going to pay by cash please have the right amount as I won't be carting a pocket full of change with me, well at least not until and first few pay. Cheque will be fine as well.

See you all in a couple of days.......................
