Motosoc is the Canterbury University Motorsport Society, we run about 4 to 6 track days a year, we run split sessions of cars and bikes, everyone is welcome!

Membership is $20 for student and $25 for non-students, membership lasts the university year (ends around the 10th of november)

This is just a copy paste from the facebook page, it has all the latest and up to date info on the track day.

Hey guys, so to make up for the disaster of our first attempt I have organized another day for all you kids to come down to the track and have a crack. I am aiming this day at beginners, so if you haven't been on the track before this is the day for you! I want this day to cater for all needs, however, so if you are a frequent track dweller don't feel like you can't bowl on down too!

Okay, so basics:

Date: Thursday 31 May
Time: 8am start, 9am on the track, until 5pm
Car requirements: Current WOF, rego, a fire extinguisher bolted down securely to a secure part of the car (chassis is preferable) with a metal bracket.
Driver requirements: Full cotton overalls, and a helmet. Available for hire on a first in first serve basis with a $5 fee for the helmet.
Motorbike requirements: Reg and WOF if applicable
Rider requirements: Full protective gear
Cost: $60 for members, $70 for non members (prepay, keep reading for account)
SPACES ARE LIMITED!!
NB: If you have no wof/rego, please email me and tell me before the day.

Some basic rules:
No aggressive driving or racing. We don't endorse racing as a roll age is not a requirement for participation. For this reason drivers seen racing will be taken off the track as this could lead to disaster! We also do not allow passing under brakes, passing may only be done on the straights under power. That goes for bikes too!
NO DRIFTING - This day is NOT designed for drifting, we will run a drift afternoon/morning later in the year. We may have a motorkhana however. Watch this space
No alcohol/drugs
No loose items in the cabin of the vehicle
No full slicks for cars, semi slicks are ok. If you really HAVE to run slicks we will see what we can do but as a general rule I prefer to have no slicks on the track. Email me.

We will have a driver and rider trainer available throughout the day, as well as a lunch that we will provide. Motosoc days are a fantastic opportunity to get out on the track and have heaps of fun in a safe way! They are also a great opportunity to meet other vehicle enthusiasts and talk about your and their cars so even if you can't race come down for a look anyway. If you want to get out on the track we also need marshalls who will get a discounted day next time and some free food and drink.

If you want in then email prp33@uclive.ac.nz with:

Love Motosoc

This is for cars and bikes and track cars and track bikes and even people who want to come along and have a look.

Holy crap, I hadn't realised we're doing it $60 for members, $70 for non-members?!? half a day at the track usually costs $50 and a whole day is like $120! so that's really good value!

Membership only cost me $10 or $20 with a tee shirt.

Apparently there are only 20 spots for bikes, which are filling fast.

eh, it'll work itself out!

I've got Dan Ornsby and Brendan Booth signed on so far, they'll be there to answer your questions, give you some tips and if you ask nicely they'll show you some lines

My friend peach picked the day, in the 2 or so years she's been picking track days they've always been sunny and warm, she picked a day in the middle of July....and it was warm and sunny. So while meteorologists have their wee maps and wind systems, I have a lot of faith in peach haha.

But you're right, I'm sure we could swap you over easily enough.

Whats the go, just organised 4 workmates to join, just logging on to register, can possibly get more riders if it's a matter of not enough interest?

As Asher said the final word isn't until tuesday, but it looks pretty bleak.

Unfortunately running a track day isn't as easy as it seems, health and safety, briefing, bookings etc had to be made by a date and the bike rep failed to meet these dates both for numbers and advertising, for instance I'm not even the bike rep I shouldn't have to make a thread on kiwibiker the bike rep should do that, I'm actually the sponsorship rep, but I love track days and bikes so I help out, but when the bulk of the work doesn't get done this is what happens.

Stand by though cause we're looking to run a bike only track day too, which will be more track time for bikers, and I'll pick up the workload and get it done properly.

Sorry for the stuff up.
