Personally, I think all wine taste the same....'cept that stuff with the bubbles...its worse. ;)
My wife on the other hand...loves the stuff...but not the bubbles so much.

The primary function of a good red is to highlight the great flavour of the meal by giving a direct comparison. That is why, the more expensive the bottle, the worse the taste, therefore the food tastes that much better!

The closest I will ge to wine....is Port, but thats a whole nover level innit?

We use the Pack n Safe method for wine. We buy what is on the best special. Works well.

yes she does, if it gets enhanced with some more alcohol......she just has issues with the full body of a red and the taste of port sometimes.:innocent:

The only problem I have with good wine is that the bottle is never big enough.

Once upon a time, it was believed that red wine rendered fish indigestible because of the tannins. I dunno if that was true - I guess I ought to find out.

If I have fish I always drink Riesling - the citric flavours go well with good fish.

Really, I just drink a wine I like with whatever. If it tastes good, it's good.

years ago in a large carpark somewhere in northern france, I bought a couple of cases of ,,( and im not making this up ) Vino collapseo

i was truely horrific


Being serious , Pomerol....... not with fish and chips though.....


pie mash and gravy would be a better bet

Over the years I have been privileged to see some legendary spontaneous power chucks caused by drinking too much wine with shellfish. Variety seems to be irrelevant. I thought it may have been the alcohol pickling the seafood, it comes out rock hard. Could be enzymes though.
Once watched a table of 20 enjoying the works Christmas lunch get liberally peppered with oysters straight from the managing directors mouth. What a terrible mess! Yup, just like Monty Python.

The whole drinking of particular wines with particular foods is a bunch of pretentious bullshit. Drink what you like when you like. Said that, cheap wine is usually crap and paying more for something decent is worth the expense.

The whole drinking of particular wines with particular foods is a bunch of pretentious bullshit. Drink what you like when you like. Said that, cheap wine is usually crap and paying more for something decent is worth the expense.

Price is seldom an indication of what YOU will (may) like. It is more likely an indication of what a lot of pretentious wine tasters will (may) like.

Find wines YOU like ... regardless of price. There are many "economically priced" wines about. :yes:

And finding those ones you like can be fun. :laugh:

Wine tours/tasting ... :wings:

Never been much into Wine, for most (if not all) of my adult life, it has always tasted....well crap if I were to be honest.
Red/White, dosen't matter..if I were ever to have a glass, it would have bubbles at the very least.
About the closest I come to drinking wine is Port, but it has to be decent stuff, Vintage preferably.
I had been gifted a couple of very nice Reds (so wine people say) a few months back, decided to try it, but it had to chilled.
For my own taste, Red wine has to be served chilled, I don't think it takes anything away from the end result

A few weeks back, a dear friend turned up for tea with a bottle of (my now favorite) Moet Chandon...celebrating a new job etc.
I will be buying a Bottle of Bollinger for Anne and myself to drink at the end of Jan' whilst at the camp...special day come the 27th.
Not such a nose turner any longer towards the odd glass of a nice bubbly.
