North Island Ride

[CB ARGH]

Hey guys, father and son bike ride this saturday, we've got the trip planned out, following the coastline the majority of the way.

Auckland-Waihi (via coromandel)
Waihi-East Cape
East Cape-Napier
Napier-Wellington
Wellington-New Plymouth
New Plymouth-Auckland

2000 or so KM in six days, should be fun. Definately our longest ride.


Any ideas of bike-friendly campgrounds to stay in (cabins) around Wellington?

On these routes, anything cool to look out for?

How'd this go for you guys? Didn't see this thread earlier....looks to me like a couple of those legs are a bit ambitious..dunno, haven't ridden them but have driven some. e.g East cape to Napier - that's a bigun...from memory Gisborne to Opotiki took us all day - ie 6-8 hours..and napier is another what -2 hours from Gissie?
