A thread to post your virtual *555 calls

To the noob in the rental car that past me in the opposite direction on the roadworks at about 100k, :angry2:
I hope you enjoyed the wee present I left under your door handle while you we having your latte...you have no idea the trouble I had to go to to find a dog turd of just the right consistency, but I hope you agree it was with the trouble.

I know this because after three calls about SOMEBODY doing wheel stands on the motor way, on a bike the same as mine, with matching registration number, I received no ticket after a brief interview with the local constabulary.

I'm told, the trick is to keep the wheel up for such a long time, that the story the cops hear is pretty unbelievable. Then when they ask about it, laugh and looked shocked they'd taken it seriously enough to get you down there.

I'm not quite as dumb as I sound or look, there is no defence to be had, nor would I, (if I had ever broken the law) try to defend doing wheelies in court. I might try the argument regarding sentencing, that it is safer to brake the law on purpose, than by accident in such circumstances as wheelies.

Aside from the fact that no admission on the part of the person(s) stopped to issue a ticket is required. I don't think they even need to tell you they have a witness that will testify in couirt against you. The camera phone downloads (especially the one's with a video) are pretty easy easy nowdays. And are pretty conclusive as evidence.

And only those with a low regard for public safety would try to defend it anyway ...

The whole *555 setup only works when there's nothing else pressing to attend to in my opinion. I drive for a living, and out of all the times I've called *555 (apart from 111 for the real drunk buggers) it's been a relatively lukewarm response and only one capture of a noddy tintop pilot...

Had a bloke in an R32-variant skyline, oncoming, in my lane overtaking around a blind corner at great speed (in Beachaven, no less, north shore). Stopped straight away and *555'd with haste and continue on to my dad's house (Pants full of shit, obviously), bloke was pulled over not 2-3k's up the road, was some good shit.

Goodness me - hairy bottoms at this hour of the morning! I must go scrub my eyes out while I have my shower!

I have been known to use *555 on a few occasions and think it's great.

As for the OP and the ensuing :girlfight: "good story bro" (I won't go looking for the many images that accompany that well-used tag line here); the meaning to written responses can be tricky to negotiate but here's the measuring rod: If someone has really been pissed off by you they will call you all names under the sun plus a few more, and probably include comments about your mother. Oh, and if that doesn't get your fingers typing faster than your accelerated pbm then they'll call your bike a POS. If that hasn't happened then I wouldn't be too concerned that they're out for your blood. :msn-wink:

A cop mate of mine ( I know, I know, but what can you do, he's a good bastard otherwise) said half the reason for the success of the *555 system is that it lets the reporter of the incident vent rather than getting wound up and doing something even more stupid than the original dropkick.

I do about 50k a year in a tintop and know I would be tempted to execute a few pit maneuvers if it wasn't there :2guns:

I think you misunderstand me. To plead a case, is to argue your point. I would argue the point at sentencing, that I was aware of the conditions, I am quite capable of controlling a bike one one wheel, and that I was being a lot safer than someone who accidentally (the most common excuse given to the cops) hoisted the front.

Depends on the charge. Careless driving? Probably not bother and just pony up the fine. Dangerous driving? Will argue that one every time.

I don't know you ... so I cannot argue on your abilities. Judges see the highlighted bit on the charge sheet ... the rest is history ...

Unless you are a professional stunt rider ... a defended court case, on either charge ... is most likely ... not going to end to your advantage.
