Ok so before people start, I have no intrest in your opinion if it is to state i need to get a 600cc before i move up to the big boys, i cant afford to switch bikes like that and the 600s i've sat on are small and uncomfortable bar the r6 and i dont really like yammys....
Busa Pro's
1. I sat on it and it just felt soooo comfortable
2. Its big i dont feel stupid sitting on it
3. it can go around corners unlike my harley
GSXR1k
Pro's
1. sat on it felt good, not as good as the busa but pretty good none the less
2. It was big enought that i didn't feel stupid on it.
3. It can go round corners really well.
The query i have is, How good can a busa do corners. I have heard and read plenty of nay sayers saying the busa is really heavy in the corners and doesn't handle all that well.
Is this true? I love the twisties and it would be a massive factor to be considered. I am well aware the busa would never out corner the gsxr but whats it like on nz roads? would it be as good in the twisties then a tiger 800xc or a sv1000?

For the road my pick would be a GSXR 750, just a thought. Lots of corners round here.....

First you have to ask yourself what you really want in a bike. Do you want a road legal track bike (GSXR1000) or do you want something more comfortable for touring at the expense of handling?
Do you enjoy riding tight, twisty roads with the odd track day or do you prefer long distance touring? They are 2 very different bikes for different purposes.

I probably wont venture onto the track for some time not till my skills are better. But i love tight twistie roads but want to be able to long distances lol.

Yup. Certainly roomier than the 600 & more usable on the road than the 1000 IMHO.
Having said that, I regularly see a black Hayabusa on the street here & his tires are always fooked right to the edge, the rider is obviously getting value for money somewhere.

That's half the point in going to a race track, to improve your skills. Race tracks are the best place to become a better rider.

I would do that buddy. The busa handles mint. goes great in the corners and doesnt feel heavy or cumbersome eh. plus u can ride 2 up all day and its got great aerodynamics.
if ur riding a harley the busa will be a mint step up handling anyway. the gsxr1000 is a bit more focused and will get uncomfortable quicker than the busa in my opinion. been on both but not for more than a 40/45 min stunt from chch to akaroa n back.
i do like a bus tho.. if i could afford one

If your doing 3hrs plus on rides busa or zx12r.they may not be your thing but when i had mine it was a good mixture of sport and comfort with a sport orientated look.
The bike I most regret selling was BMWR1200S.Wasnt as powerfull as most bikes I had owned but it just handled so good in corners and had factory ohlins front and rear(budget factory ohlins before someone jumps on the difference between RT ohlins and factory spec).

I had a blackbird before zx12 and I had destroyed the lower fairing from lack of ground clearance hence the change.I tested busa and zx12 and found the 12 to be half way between busa and litre race so took that.

Hay bud, I have a 1999 busa & I love it, I had an rz250RR & than bought the busa, the best thing would be try this beast first! before you buy anything else, because it has it all, the only thing it does not have is respect! , you! have to respect it! The only time I ever had problems with handling was when I was out of my skill range, it was wet i was in the twisties & trying to keep up with other more expirirenced riders. The busa will do everything you want it to do, twisties, touring, speed records, its just up to how hard you! want to twist the throttle. My old man takes my busa for a squirt almost every week end, but he has a great deal of respect for it as he has seen me on it from a distance lol, to me riding any bike is great, but riding a busa gives you the freedom of tour & sport. Hope this can help? I just love my busa.

I am a an dedicated racer with a Daytona 675 for Bears and a Gsxr 1000 for everything else - in the real world I ride an 06 Busa that I have done 54.000 kms on. I think I am qualified to comment.....
The Busa is a do everything bike, it will commute to work without fuss, you can go drag racing on it, it will two up tour and two up fang better than anything else I have ridden in 30yrs trying allsorts , once you understand how to set it up and how to ride it, even in the tight stuff (real world) it will take a way commited rider on a sport 600 to get away from you. The Busa is a really easy and forgiving bike to ride, the thou is more focused and not so forgiving, if some one without a broad range of experience were chosing between the Busa and the Thou, they shoud choose the Busa.........
My two cents........

My two cents........
All true. Hey...I can ride a GSXR1000 over things like the Tukas quicker than I can the Busa. But I don't want to go that fast on public roads. I can hussle the Busa more than quick enough on twisty roads. In comfort. Then blow a GSXR1000 into the weeds if the road opens up. In comfort. They're smooth...and a big pussy cat. Untill you pull the pin. Best road bike I've ever ridden.

Yep a Daytona 675 (with the R bit) would be a great trackbike and a Hayabusa powerful but well mannered on the road. I used to do 400km trips with a 30 min coffee break in the middle and manage without too much discomfort.... and that was under one tank of gas too.
Comparing with Hayabusa to a GSX1000R I felt more planted on the road on the Busa and certainly more comfortable being over 6ft and 100kgs.
The latter model is certainly a nice looker too. I would love to see a revamp but I doubt that will happen anytime soon if history is anything to go by (or the economy).

I only got that doing a gentle cruise no more than 110km/h from North Auckland to Taupo.
It was a different story at the track or on a quick blat.
