So it finally dawned on me that sunfaded red mixed with a bit of pink and lines of rust wasn't really the coolest paint job in Wellington, so I decided to get it repainted. Took my bike in to Airflowe in Kaiwharawhara and they did an absolute stonker of a job on my VT250. Highly recommend their work, really cool bunch of dudes and they do some awesome stuff! Looks even better in person!

Bike looks like new now :innocent:

Haha yeah man the pipe sounds just as grouse as it looks, I've been meaning to get a video of it up for ages Mark from Neptune in Lyall Bay did a great job on it! Will chuck a video of it up this week sometime

Great to see some positive replies! I was originally going to just do it black however I wanted a colour which was unique and would make my bike stand out a bit. I took a risk with the paint job it was going to either turn out really weird and tacky or really awesome but I'm glad I did as it turned out great!

It cost me $600 but that was the good ol mates rates so I think it may be a little bit more if someone else went in. However Airflowe do wicked work, they do work on the Jeff Grey BMW cars as well. They will definitely sort anyone out with a great paint job!

Thats a really good price for the result
Much better than straight black!, the Green & white suits the wheels and makes the bike look very unique...well done mate :niceone:

Yeah sure I'll put up a video tonight with some closer views of the bike and will show of the exhaust a wee bit as well

The only downside to the exhaust is I washed it with a towel which I had been using for Anti rust, which smudged the exhaust which Mark had so beautifully painted. Man I felt like an idiot.. Still looks very slick though

I'm not sure of what exact type of Green but it's a few shades lighter than British Racing Green

That must be genuine British Racing Green then, if its lighter - cos being lighter it will go faster....

Airflowe painted my race bike for me, Very good work indeed (can't cock up matte black) and in a very short time. Recommend them to every body, for any thing you need painted.

Sorry. What happened to the exhaust?
Been looking for someone to do a mat black on a GT 1050, think they could do? Tank seat unit and fairing?
But what happened to the exhaust again?

Yeah mate just phone Airflowe and ask them I'm sure it would be sweet as!

The exhaust wasn't done by airflowe I got it done by Neptune exhausts in Lyall Bay. The guy who did my exhaust, Mark, put a great finishing polish on my exhaust however I used anti rust on it and it smudged up the polish lol it was my own fault

Get matt colours done in vinyl wrap, cheaper and doesn't get ruined by oil

Get matt colours done in vinyl wrap, cheaper and doesn't get ruined by oilWas actually looking at vinyl wrapping today. Anyone know any prices?

I found this http://www.sikfx.com/vinyl-sheets-and-rolls/matte-vinyl-sheets/detail/8-matte-vinyl-sheets/sikfx/9-matte-satin-black.html?sef=hcfp
$28 for 1220mmX1000mm.

Wouldn't know how far that would go though!

Did a little research and found this http://www.kawiforums.com/two-wheeled-discussion/174464-vinyl-wrap-lots-pics.html

Says he used
I bought the 54'' wide rolls and used about 4.5 yards of white and 1 yard of matte black. and it cost him $300 USD.

So I am guessing that is around $300NZD judging by trademe prices (could be way off though).

Looks shit hot! Shows what a lick of paint can do for an older 250.

I've always entertained the idea of getting the Bandit repainted, or even doing the old Gulf Oil orange and blue scheme. Just can't afford to!

On a related note, anyone had a go at painting an engine before? I'm thinking of dropping the lump outta mine and doing it in black VHT engine enamel.

I reckon I can do it cheaper, I priced it up a while ago and it looked to be around the $200 mark.
Might matt white the 600

If you do the prep work well, you can apply the matte black your self with cans. Looks primo and will cost you about $40 bucks.

Yeah lol I really should have took some before pictures before I painted it. This is what the bike looked like when I brought it 2 years ago, it's actually quite a good picture it was a lot more sunfaded than the picture shows. After 2 years it was practically pink and had a bit of rust on the tank, looked like shit lol. Here's a pic of when I first got it

http://iforce.co.nz/i/4rizlrlx.b1s.jpg (http://www.iforce.co.nz/View.aspx?i=4rizlrlx.b1s.jpg)

It used to be RustyRobot's bike I'm not sure if he's still on these forums.

I've got some white 'SPADA' stickers like on the original paint job waiting to be put on but I'm still not sure whether it will look better without them or not. Thoughts anyone?

Yep next step will be painting the frame an etched black, matt looks fine out of cans and its quite an easy colour to do!

Put the original stickers on (my silly opinion)
I'm a bit fussy when looking at Spadas and even though mine was somewhat now standard, I always look for ones with original paint/headlight etc.
But, I'm weird and yes, I still want another.

Airflowe do great work.I had an arrangement with them to paint my bike each time I jumped off.
Pete has retired, but young Terry knows his stuff.

Awesome to hear some good rep for Airflowe on here. I want to add to that with my huge reccomendation. The chaps at Airflowe re-painted my bike when I was getting it back on the road, and got my the Ducati custom white with blue peal in specially as a suprise. They repaired my fuel tank which was rather Stuffed to say the least, and I couldnt tell it was the original tank. Thought it was a new one. Absolutely fantastic job with the repairs and the stunning paint job. Terry is a top bloke, and Norn - you're a bloody legend mate. Have raved about you guys to anyone who comments on my paint work. Big thumbs up!!
