Hi,
I have been a lurker around these forums for a fair bit, haven't owned my own bike previously but have had plenty of turns on friends bikes (Namely Scream's FXR150 and another friends VTR250).
Just yesterday I bought my first bike, a 1988 Honda Spada, 26000km on the current engine and comes with a spare parts engine. Body in pretty decent condition and being that it's the older version of the VTR, the feel is quite familiar.

Picking the bike up Tuesday as the previous owner is getting it a warrant and rego. We knew the guy wasn't lying because my father works alongside one of the guys best mates since primary and also once he found that out, he disclosed a lot of the bikes history.

Also I am not squid, I went and bought all my gear before I even started viewing bikes, brand new helmet, leather jacket and of course my L plates.

Keen to finally learn riding on the roads properly.

I remember all to well being on the road for the first time...I thought an 80-100Km ride was pretty damn good (for the first week or so:shifty:)
My advice to you would be to do some riding by yourself and get to know your bike better than your toothbrush.
Do some shorter rides...Okororie is 120K round trip from Hamilton.
Or Raglan? 90K's or so there and back.

There are group rides out of Hamilton but, best stay away from any group riding at your stage, they can be a bit daunting.

If you have a mate who you can also ride with? do that after a few outings by youself.
And good on you for getting at the right first up ..:niceone:
