Doing a rebuild on the 300 and want to have a shop around.

I recently completed a rebuild on my 300 exc ...bought all me parts from www.motoxparts.co.nz up in Aucks, Don't know about Wellington...

Had a friend get me a piston from the States. Saved me a good $300. If I went local I'd get my stuff from AFC Motorcycles.

unless you want bad attitude and every things a hassle dont bother with mciver vietch in dunedin. have got parts from there before and found them unhelpful and they treat you like you're an idiot and know nothing about your own bike. just the other day tryed getting a spoke set from them, was told i needed a frame no. to get correct set. which would be fine if i didnt know husaberg and ktm run the same wheels on some models. but while telling the so called experts what i knew( would have thought they would know this as well) was told fairly bluntly that i needed frame no to order parts or dont bother. ive since deleted there number from contacts, went to superior motorcycles in chch,they couldnt have done more for me, and i got the set for half the price that other tossers quoted me, which was $300. screw you mciver and vietch you suck balls .:finger:

We use South Auckland Motors in Pukekohe. Sam runs the parts there and he couriers everything to us. Awesome friendly service which is why we have stayed even though a new KTM dealership has opened up around the corner from where we live.

can't understand why the KTM (or any of the jap) importers havn't set up an online parts ordering website that either gets delivered to your local choice of KTM dealership of choice or couriered to you direct (and somehow the local dealership gets a cut if the importers don't want to deal direct with the public). something like bits4bikes does but with official parts numbers for all years.

i get sick of having to look up part numbers on sunday after a ride (yeah i break things), wait till monday morning until i can ring the shop, try a couple of times before i can get through and then all they do is send off the part numbers to the guy with all the stock. too much manual work, usually 1 out of every 5 orders something gets lost or i'm not called and told the part has arrived.

they must realize how easy it is these days to click a buy now on e-bay and it turns up at my house 10 days later. you'd think they'd try and drag the parts dept into the 19th century.

or maybe they don't make much money on factory parts so it's not worth the effort??

ITs probably that they are loyal to their dealers... if people can buy parts online then the dealers are only there for new and used bike sales and probably wouldn't make enough money to survive....

Boyds here in Hamilton are pretty good.
One of the few bike shops I have been to in the last few years I would recommend.

Got seals and Wossner piston for my boys 65cc from mxparts. Could not be happier. 1/2 price compared to AFC. Depending on KTM just watch out re A B or C piston.

I put a wossner piston in from motoxparts, and all good. however i also by genuine from Tss in the hutt, very friendly and helpful crew in my experiance

Hmm... 2 posts from you in all the years you been here and dissing motox makes you come out of hiding... Sorry but I am a suspicious bastard. You wanna tell me that you do not work for any of their opposition?

And if you are gonna diss someone, should you not get the name of the piston right at least...

The piston I got came in original box, had stickers for the bike, and a information leaflet re all wossner gear. Heaps of work if you are selling crap dont you think??

If a distributor was to sell parts from there warehouse to the public many more shops would go to the wall as the workshops and parts are keeping many shops afloat.

it's probably not economical for each dealership to create their own online ordering system, so it doesn't get done.

the nz distributor could have KTM parts online which are delivered to the persons local dealership for pickup and payment. cuts out the delay in waiting for shop hours and the day or two for the order to be sent to the distributor from the dealer.

I've bought quite a few KTM parts from Munn Racing ex USA, (sign up to the KTM talk forum for a 15% discount) via the comgateway shipping service as none of the US sites will ship overseas. Occasionally local prices are comparable but generally you'll save shitloads buying ex USA, especially for small, light & expensive bits. If KTM don't have the part in stock in NZ it's usually quicker to order ex USA than wait for it to come from Austria via the dealer too.
