never . i had one of those as teenager(82 XR200) mine self destructed . broke a conrod ,motor locked and i took a skate up a wet canterbury road in the middle of night.
i remember the night well. A gentleman stops as he sees xr in middle of road.
walks up asks me if i am ok.
parents pull up behind dead XR in the old farm wagon.
My old man walks over to me.
Before he even gets to me...
mum starts hooting and roaring
"thats the last bike you'll ever have!!" at the top of her lungs ( horse trainers )
i start back .. " no its not" , helmet still on , I am morning the loss of XR . not sure what to do look at bike or aurgue the toss with demented mother.
poor stranger must have thought whats wrong with these couuntry bumpkins.

LOL, my bike will be fine. I may die a few times along the way.
This will be my first real trail ride, what tyre pressure should I go for?

mine was thrashed down at the local beach for a couple of weeks and the airfilter was not lined up .. gee i wonder who's fault that was.
they do go forever under normal conditions .
12 - 15 psi is about normal . varies a bit if muddy.
if its muddy you would be king of the trailride on that tractor
Roadkill are you taking one of your toys on sunday ?
team green or team yellow.
or staying at home i was thinking its close to your neck of the woods as well.

Awww stink :( Yours the red one just have that tiny muddy dip crossing ? That poor XR conked out :(.. my CR exibited float troubles and I only made 1.75 laps before having to park up.
But gosh! It was good fun :P Arm pump city, and a mix of everything, rocks, gravel, dirt, mud, stepped downhill, stepped uphill!
Was a lot of fun!

LOL, thats the only trouble I had all day. I just hit the little rock section wrong and got bauked. Mate helped me up to the top of the little downhill and she roll started fine. Just a bit flooded I guess.
Great track. Showed lots of places I had no skill. Loved it.

If I can find a little movie editing program that can cut out all the lame bits (Because you cant hear sound from my crusty ATC3k anyway) I will get the movie up on youtube.
I got you on it just as you were resting up on the side trying to get ya bike going :)

Doh, trust me to be on film when the bike stopped.
Did you stop to change your plug? I stopped by somebody that was having trouble to check they were ok.
Saw a couple of people being helped that had crashed. i felt like I should stop but there were heaps of people there and im no Doctor.
That little tree section where you dropped down to the road, each time I went through somebody crashed in front of me. Second time I almost went over them.
Got some bloody good tips that helped me heaps, I can go downhill now:woohoo: Had my rear brake set to low.
Im going to sort myself out a rack for the car and hit some more trail rides I think. Next one probably will be the Waitamata club one out helensville.

Yeah that was me with me poor CR laying on the ground a few times with me ol spanner out changing the plug :P Crap in the float needle I am hoping! :) I changed the jetting over after my first lap. It helped a little bit, but only to clean it out after times when not on the gas. The over fueling issue got progressively worse and when got back I had some more tail tail signs of float level or valve issues like a drop of fuel out the overflow, also fuel pooling in the intake flange. Other clues were when I started it the night before .. BURRRRRRRRRRRR Zing Zing Zing Zing.. smoke out the tail pipe as the fuel in the crank case burnt up.
Another clue was.. I went further with the fuel tap off (because I forgot to turn it on)!!!. So I have a posible leak there too :P
Poor ol thing hehe.
I went past the poor downed rider too and felt like stopping, but yeah he had the ambo staff there, (Colar bone). My bike stopped for good about 400m from that in the middle of the big field on the flat :P Where once again I tipped her over, changed the plug. This time 20 kicks did not get her moving for all that long.. so I wheeled to the shade.. had a rest, helped a kid start his bike. Changed my plug, talked to a marchel whom helped me with the bike to get her to a safe location at another riders house. (Same spot where the ambo got access) and got a ride back to my white van and went to pickup me bike :P
I did not get your bail on video sorry! I was facing the other way talking to the guy on the bank :) You are in the footage I am just rendering as I type this..
Beleive it or not, it was one of the easier trail rides around that I have been on for ages!. It offered very good options for everyone of all different skills.
Down hills are a bit of a balance between a trailing back brake to tame the engine wanting to over run, getting as far back on the bike as you can whilst maintaining enough distance from your butt and the seat to allow for sudden dips. (To be sure the seat does not come back up and throw you over), and having your arms in a very slight angle as not to lock or jar going over any of those dips. Oh and definately stand up :) You see the lines and dips better going down the hill too, and avoid big drop offs like one person did not manage to avoid on the weekend :/. I bealive he pulled it off though! hehe
I had a couple of bails my self, 2 when my bike fowled and I was over some tricky stuff and could not touch the ground!! (I am short), and once when I had to slow down for two riders going into a sharp 90 degree turn through a gate.. well I slide the back in combination with my breaking to get a sharper angle on them, back wheel hit the berm. I went bolt up right but with a very small amount of energy left to tip me over the other side LOL!! Again!, was not able to touch the ground to stop me hehehehe
Oh and another time (as seen in the clip, the only time you got to see my mudguard was when for a breif moment I went past the balance point of the bike pulling a wheelie because my throttle hand cramped up over a good bump).
The camera is tiled fairly high in the footage because the view from it is narrow, it is also off center to my line of vision so the video may look a little weird in some places as to why I am not looking where I am going :/
Anyone want to donate a GoPro ?
