which Bike?

:yes: her indoors says I can buy a road bike, sweet, it only took 6 years!
My last road bike was an '82 XJ750, which aside from being worn out and heavy was actually a pretty good bike, IE ok on open road, ok for commuting, ok for passengers, and ok on gas.
Unfortunately it was also ok for cutting a honda accord in half (well almost anyway)- not my fault, honda turned across my path "sorry mate, I didnt see ya".....goodbye bike, jeans, boots, helmet..... hello (automatic) car :oi-grr:

anyway, I always liked the GPZ900, but in the mid nineties even the cheapest, was too dear for a minimum wager like me :(

I can probably get away with spending $2-3000, its not a lot, but its a start, and better than doing laps arount the garden on the kids z50. :ride:

what should I look for? bearing in mind that I dont need hypersport technolgy to ride to work, go to rallies, and scare myself when I'm bored.

Well, my bit of advice is "DONT GO NEAR PETER GRINTER" he will screw you big time. I would suggest head out of town if you can and alos look at something comfy for the blenheim roads. Where abouts do you usually travell?

buy a TDR250. 50hp, manic engine, 2 stroke rush and only $2000. Sucks if you do distance though.....

Good for getting back into biking, not too [powerful but still shitloads of fun.

My mate works there, and even he says stay away if you can,
I travel about 10km out of town for work daily, other than that some times to Chch, or Nelson, but would like to go on a SI tour for 7 days plus, does anyone want to watch 4 kids for a week? if not then its the kennels for them.

Buy an XJ900 -solid as rock better handling than ya 750 was and cheaper than a gpz
Might know of a well loved 1989 model for sale soon

My 10 cents worth: I like the GPZ900 too, but the Kawasakis tend to suffer from high kms. If you find a good one, great, but avoid any with top end noise - expensive! The FJ and XJR seem to go forever.
Test ride everything you can, and see what you like.

Shit he must have been a fecking hard rider if it needed rebuilding once, let alone twice at that mileage. that's only about 100000 miles. Should be good for 250000 at least before a rebuild. Serious
