Long weekend off work eating too much chocolate that's all it means to me. I've never been involved n any religion in what I'd call a meaningful way and though I believe in 'something' I don't believe in the Jesus or Christ fellas...so for me Easter is a 'thanks to those of you who believe that stuff, and all your predecessors' for without them I could not have a long weekend off work where everyone is encouraged to over eat on chocolate.

Now i dont say any of the above to stir or offend i believe to each his own and that we are all welcome to have differing views on this stuff. This isn't meant to turn into the Scottish thread juif you are thinking you might recruit a lost soul in me think again...what im interested in is how others value and choose to focus their time and or energy - enjoyment during this 'religious holiday'.

For those of you that do do the religious celebration stuff, what does it all involve? No sermons please just a high level idea of what you get up to.

Easter and christ is a sham. We are meant to be celebrating the sun or more precisely the northern hemisphere spring equinox.

It's all about the Sun (giver of life). Sun god. Sun of God etc.
Horus, Attis, Krishna, Dionysus, Mithra, Buddha, Jesus and dozens of others all arrived by immaculate conception. All were known as the sons of Sun/God and King of kings. All were crucified and resurrected after 3 days.

What are the odds http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

The truth is told beautifully in this youtube
http://youtu.be/Z-17BNU7L6g

The link between the zodiac, stars and the birth of Christ (in Bethlehem LoL) is so clear. As is the link between the various crucifixions, 3 days of death before resurrection, and the Sun cycles (at its weakest/dying) when for a period of 3 days it is aligned under the southern cross (death on the cross) and the spring equinox/Easter is of course the re-birth of the Sun and the various sons of god over the last 10,000 years.

Great stuff and all indicative that lunacy of this nature is based in the northern hemisphere. http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/images/smilies/xsmilie_lol.gif

Jesus is one of many, many names for the lead character in the same old story, recycled over 10,000 years with characters refreshed and used to suit the stage of the period/race/region/power hungry corrupter. All birthed in the ancient study of astronomy, the Zodiac our sun it's seasons and the miracle of life (early science).

Someone should probably be suing for copyright http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/images/smilies/wink.gif

That's my contribution to our Easter celebrations. Give credit where credit is due. Stop with this nonsense of worshiping false gods and their sons. There are no gods and no children of god.

Ok cool. So how do you use the holiday then? Sun praising ceremony in a field?

Tobacco beer and weed are the staples. Chocolate doesn't rate.

I think the role that religion plays in state is far to great for the times.

I'd like to see religeous references removed from all legislation, especially holidays and the education act. I'd also like to see the shop restrictions removed from the Easter holidays - so that all holidays are treated equal.

I like the Easter holidays, but overal I think there are too many holidays in the working year now.

Buddha ... arrived by immaculate conception. ... All were crucified and resurrected after 3 days.

Um... not so much. I've seen these claims on the Internet and the sourcing is pretty poor. Undoubtedly many religious views are derivative, and Christianity is no different, but it's not as clear-cut as you claim. That said, I'm not planning on creating the Scottish thread mark 2 here. Around our place, some chocolate was consumed, as was some beer, domestic chores were completed, that sort of thing. Might have to do some work today so this next short week isn't a disaster.

Have you had a blow to the head recently?

11 out of 365 is too much???
I would like to see easter Sunday become a public holiday. Who's fucked up idea was it to create a day where the public is forced on a holiday, as businesses have to close & then say it's not a public holiday . What's a public holiday if not the public having a day off??? :weird:
Is there any "religious references" left??? For general public Christmas is a time of commercial giving, easter is hot cross buns & chocolate eggs.

Ever had to let someone go before? It's not nice. More productivity means more jobs. It's that simple.

I said holidays, not just public holidays. There are way more than 11. Take the 4 weeks of annual leave for a start. For a small business it hurts. It's make it harder to employ additional people.

Lets say you'd been out of work for a while. Would you rather have no work, or the option of work but with less holidays?

With regard to religion, take this exampe in the education act:
http://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/1964/0135/latest/DLM357866.html

...every State primary school shall be kept open 5 days in each week for at least 4 hours each day, of which hours 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon shall be; and the teaching shall be entirely of a secular character

actually it's not that simple....people are actually more productive when they do get decent breaks and in relation to other countries we work more and have less holidays than a lot of them.

Also - you are bringing this thread down now. Take your employers wah fest to another thread where you can continue debating that we should have less holidays.

On the note of religion I have NEVR experiencedany hours of religious education in a NZ school, neither has my 8 year old or any of the other kids I know....

Right back on topic....Chocolate....get it down ya

If you can't pay labour costs, then your business is a probably too much of lemon to bother about....if you want slaves, set up in india (Quasi-leathers-land).
