Welcome fella,my advice would be to go take one for a test ride then ride something similar to compare it with.VT250 would be another.

Hey there.I had issues when I got my learner licence (long time ago) due to being 6.4

Just make sure whatever you get doesnt leave you cramped up.Hyo is good size frame but not the best for performance.LAMS changes still a we way away but you could get a cheap bargin bike and wait for lams change then flog it for what you payed.Would give you a start and something that wont risk to much money while you save for a slightly larger body bike when LAMS starts.
You can if you troll tard me find some bikes for under a K that just need so loven to make worth while and you should resell at profit if you choose wisely.

Consider also, it is possible to get exemptions to learner/restricted licenses. So as a big guy, you can apply to get a bigger bike.

Shockingly, this actually gives you a larger range of bikes for your 3K, as 250s are stupidly expensive.

Come October, whatever you payed for a 250 (excluding competitive motorcrossers) will be too much, the LAMS law change will put 250 value back where it should be.Buy the cheapest hack you can to reduce the loss, apply for exemption or buy a bigger more suitable bike, and ride sensibly and under the radar for a few months.

You would be looking for an SV 650, 650 Hyusung, ERN Kawaski type, older examples needing love will get in your budget, jump on the net, look at LAMS law to find out how it's gonna work

welcome to KB.

Id overlook the hyosung and look at a bandit or a vtr if you are big and want to stay 250cc and sporty.

Later this year the lams rule comes into effect, allowing you to ride larger bikes on a learners. If it were me right now looking at starting out, I would buy a larger bike thats on the LAMS list, and hope I didnt get pulled over between now and october. either that or just wait til october (Im not known for my patience)
